"Extremely well. The house I bought recently is almost 50 years old and in need of much repair. Gary did an excellent job with repair of wood trim, wrought iron trim and stucco as well as cleaning preparation and painting. It looks better than new."

"Southern Rust Woodworks has the best custom built products around. I have several pieces he has made for me, and I get asked all the time who did them and how to contact him. He can make anything you want! Or if you donâ t have an idea, he has great ideas himself. My house is basically a Southern Rust Woodworks showcase. Love all my pieces and they are excellent quality. Love all his products!!!"

"I had four pieces of living room furniture repaired and refinished. They charged a reasonable amount for quality work. If you want cheap, this is not the place, but if you have nice furniture and want to keep it, then they know how to make it look great."

"This guy is the best! My 20 year furniture looks brand new. No one else would take on the work. This company did and nailed it (no pun intended). Highly recommend. Couldn't be happier. A+"

"To work with a company like CCO Style is unique. The company is professional, their work is impeccable, on time, it's precise and perfect. Sarah was right on with the design and details we talked about. The materials were high quality and the painting of the wall unit was exact. We had them design and build a custom 11' wide X 10" high built in wall unit with glass shelving, wood and glass doors, LED lights, quartz counter top and backsplash (by Nixon Granite). The quarts work was also exact and extremely well done. There was no down time between installing the cabinets and the quartz. The two companies work well together. We would highly recommend CCO Style for any wood working you need to have completed. We are now continuing our work with them by remodeling our kitchen cabinets."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

Yes, ceiling joists are typically load-bearing. However, their primary function is to support the weight of the ceiling and loads applied to it, like lighting fixtures and ceiling fans. They can also help support the roof, especially if they’re part of truss systems. Remember, the load-bearing capacity of ceiling joists depends on the material, size, and space between them.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.

Professionals ensure precise alignment and durability, critical for structural integrity.
