"I had a great experience w Elite Power Washing.  They responded immediately to my phone call on a spring Fri afternoon, were here on Tuesday PM to give an estimate, expecting to begin work at that time if we could agree on a price.  When they saw the size of the size of the house, after they has just completed a large job some distance from my home,  they elected to come early another day.  On the appointed day, they arrived exactly when they said they would.  Did a beautiful job and were through in about five hours.  I was especially pleased they cleaned my two air conditioning units (without being asked), and even cleaned up my neighbor's sidewalk, which had preexisting debris on it (which my washing just added to) and has an ongoing drainage problem.

"Excellent experience with Waylon! He quickly gave me a quote with 3 different options, offered financing, and set up a day that week to come complete the work. He and his crew removed my old system and installed the new system in about 3 hours. Outstanding service and experience with this company. Thanks Waylon!"

Install Central Vacuum questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a central vacuum cleaner system averages about $1,600, ranging from $1,100 to $2,200, depending on the size of the system, add-on features, your home’s location, and age of the system. Accessibility to running lines and other equipment can also impact the project cost. Consult a central vacuum cleaner installation company for an accurate estimate of your installation cost.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.

Technically, yes, you could install a central vacuum system on your own, but it is a very difficult DIY. There is a significant amount of planning, cutting into walls, and electrical wiring work that goes into it, which should only be performed by a professional. Because of the difficulty and expense associated with a central vacuum system, it’s worth it to hire a professional company familiar with the installation's complexities.

A central vacuum system can be a worthwhile investment depending on your needs and budget. While the upfront cost is higher than a traditional vacuum cleaner, it offers significant long-term benefits. These systems can save you time and make cleaning your home easier, as you only need to carry the hose and vacuum head, eliminating the need to lug a heavy unit up and down stairs. They also tend to operate more quietly and can improve indoor air quality. The convenience and performance over many years may make it a valuable addition to your home if you can budget for the initial installation.
