"Upon first contacting the company, they were very professional and responsive. I asked for a downspout to be moved and a gutter to be re-leveled. My goal was to eliminate some roof streaking, eliminate standing water in the gutter where mosquitoes were breeding and eliminate pooling by the front door. They came out and provided an estimate and indicated due to the age of the gutters (bit over 20 years) that they would need to replace them and would use screw in hangers vs. the nail in hangers used back then. Their price was good compared to the other companies I had contacted and we set a date for the work. The guys who showed up could not have been better. They were polite and it was clear they knew what they were doing. They took care of the job in fairly short order. It looked good. Then that night we had a heavy rain. Unfortunately the pooling by the front door continued and the gutter held a lot of water afterwards. I contacted them and we set a time for them to come out. Unfortunately the person could not make it and we rescheduled. In the end I had to continue to call and reschedule multiple times. When he did come out he made the adjustments and everything worked perfectly in the next rain storm. I think this company is good overall and has people who are doing a good job. I do think they need to work on their communication process a bit and they need to prioritize current customer issues a little higher. I would not have even mentioned the multiple rescheduling efforts if they had come out the first time and taken care of it."

"D & D put in a leaf filter after thoroughly cleaning my gutters. I requested pictures and they took many and showed me at the end of the process. They wasted no time. Water flows as it should through the gutters, a vast improvement. I am impressed with the whole operation. They did a great job!"

"Justin keeps me informed about the project and how things are going. Still need Super gutters to be finished but that is do to the size of my existing gutter. He has ordered covers for them and I am confident all will be finished shortly."

"Very good and fast service. We got the gutters and the guards. The salesman was clear in explaining the difference the clear flow gutter guards were from other guards. Good warranty service also. Highly recommend."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

There are gutter repair experts who specialize in gutter maintenance. These professionals can help with clogging, leaks, sagging, or other issues. An experienced pro should also be able to tell you when a repair won’t be enough and a full replacement will be necessary. Keeping your gutters in great shape is how you prevent bigger problems from forming.

Buried downspouts can freeze during cold weather as cold water runs through them. If you’ve discovered your downspouts are frozen, you can carefully pour hot water down the top of the downspout to defrost them. If that doesn’t work, you may need to dig your downspout back up. Avoid trying to break the ice from the exterior using a hammer as this can cause cracks and damage to your downspout.

To avoid freezing the future, consider adding a heating cable to the exterior, which can adjust heat based on the surrounding temperature.

Unless you've chosen to install underground downspouts, your gutter downspouts shouldn't touch the ground. If they come into contact with the soil or pavement next to your home, rainwater can back up into them during a storm, preventing them from doing their job effectively. Instead, aim to have your downspouts end about 12 inches from the ground.

With routine maintenance, gutters don’t usually need to be replaced for 20 years, but there are warning signs that they might need early replacement. Signs that your gutters need to be replaced include sagging, visible cracks or holes, peeling paint, rust, standing water in your gutter, and water leaking into your basement. Pushing off replacing your gutters can lead to extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Regular maintenance can help your gutters last all 20 years — and sometimes, even longer.

The average cost to install or replace gutters is around $2,000, with typical project costs ranging from $900 to $7,000. Most companies charge between $4 and $30 per linear foot. The total price depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the complexity of its footprint, the gutter material (e.g., vinyl, metal), and the gutter style (e.g., half-round, custom-built). Additional elements like downspouts, corners, and optional add-ons like gutter guards can also increase the price. The condition of your roof is another consideration, as new gutters cannot be installed on a rotting or sloping roof. While it can be an expensive upfront cost, new gutters are a worthwhile, long-lasting investment for protecting your home's exterior. You can save up to half on labor costs by installing them yourself.
