"Was horrible experience He was hired to put up a shelf and closet bars in my 2 bedroom closet s as I just had them repainted in 8 /1 /25. I asked for them to be hung in beams. I started hanging up my clothes when he was comped and paid in full and on 9/1/ 25 the closest fell completely out of the wall causing damage and I could have been severely injured. He came back on 9/3/25 and advised he did not put them in a beam, took all out and laid on my bed which my freight and barrel blanket that cost 345 is completely ruined there was plaster left all in my bed and it was stained by his filthy tool bag. No clean up and he did not compete repairing of walls or closet nor painted the walls from the damage he produced. I have contacted him several times this week to see when he was going to come and complete the repair of his shotty work and as of today date is a no show. I am recovering from 7 surgeries and could have been severely hurt, the job is not done, he ruined my bedroom bedding sheets and blankets and want my money back as I had to hire another person to clean up the mess and finish the job. He should not be allowed to work as he also doesn t respect home ownership and does not follow up on quotes or complete jobs ! How can I get my money back as my mom paid for this for me as I am on a limited income on disability."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Don't pick up or dispose of aeration plugs. They will break down by themselves in one or two weeks. Rainfall will speed this up, as will watering the lawn. Mowing helps, but don't mow the grass too soon post-aeration. It's unusual that the plugs would remain after three or four weeks, but mowing and raking will break them down by that point.

Yes, you should water the lawn after aerating. Now that you’ve loosened up the soil to better receive nutrients, it’s time to hydrate and fertilize your lawn. You’ll want to keep it evenly moist to promote healthy growth. Don’t drown your grass—too much of a good thing can reverse all the work you’ve done with aeration in the first place. But especially if you’ve overseeded and/or fertilized after aeration, you’ll want to ensure a moist soil layer to absorb those nutrients and fuel for new growth.

There are a few time periods or conditions during which you should avoid aerating your lawn. For example, do not aerate when the ground is frozen or waterlogged, as it can damage the soil structure and grass roots. Aerating during the peak of summer heat or drought is also not recommended since it can stress your grass further. It's best to wait for cooler, more favorable conditions. Finally, newly seeded lawns should not be aerated until the grass is well-established, usually at least one year after seeding.

It depends on the condition of the grass during the drought. If your grass completely died, it won’t turn green again after drought. However, if it just went dormant, you still have a chance to revive your lawn once drought conditions have passed. Follow proper lawn care practices after a drought to try and get your lawn back to its healthy, green self.

The length of time it takes to aerate a lawn mostly depends on the yard's size. Generally, a lawn care professional can aerate a lawn that is 10,000 square feet in size in about 30 to 45 minutes. This process may take additional time if you have a heavily sloped or uneven yard, and it may cost extra for the lawn care pro’s labor and time.
