He removed the rusted out damper and chimney cap, and replaced them with a stainless steel chimney cap with a built in damper. It works great and it took less time than he estimated. He sealed the chimney, fully secured the chimney cap (which for some reason had been only partially secured when it was installed 34 years ago) and gave the chimney interior a visual inspection. Overall cost was $95 which I thought was reasonable. Joe was courteous and listened carefully as I explained the problem. He probably could have recommended that I replace the chimney cap, but he said it still had reasonable life left. I thought him to be professional and very honest.
