"Curt called me promptly, made an appointment to do my chimney inspection, and gave me a Fair estimate of the work to be done. He removed the rusted out damper and chimney cap, and replaced them with a stainless steel chimney cap with a built in damper. It works great and it took less time than he estimated. Great work and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Breathe EZ!!"

"Joe inspected my chimney and found the reason why we were experiencing a leak. He sealed the chimney, fully secured the chimney cap (which for some reason had been only partially secured when it was installed 34 years ago) and gave the chimney interior a visual inspection. Overall cost was $95 which I thought was reasonable. Joe was courteous and listened carefully as I explained the problem. He probably could have recommended that I replace the chimney cap, but he said it still had reasonable life left. I thought him to be professional and very honest. Now I know who to call if I have another problem with the chimney. I am pleased to recommend Tidy Sweep to anyone who needs their chimney serviced."

"I had a bit of trouble with my molding around the doors vs how the system was designed. The tech guy hung with me for 39 minutes until it was perfect. I called customer service a couple times after that with questions that came up. The customer service team are professional and knowledgeable."

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

Depending on the amount of soot present, you can vacuum some of it using a brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Then, remove the leftovers with a mild cleaner, such as dish soap or vinegar mixed with water. Before applying a cleaning solution, saturate the bricks with clean water to prevent the cleaner from penetrating beyond the surface and causing structural damage to the bricks.

Yes, a bowl of vinegar can absorb smoke. If you want to use this method to reduce the smoke smell in your house, all you have to do is leave a bowl (or multiple bowls) of white vinegar out overnight. Alternatively, you can use bowls of baking soda, coffee grounds, or activated charcoal.

It depends. For new ovens, it’s best to run a few empty cycles to prepare the oven for use and to keep any manufacturing byproducts from entering your food. But if your oven is smoking due to a few burnt pieces of old food, then it probably won’t hurt to eat it. If there’s a lot of smoke, then your food probably won’t taste good, even if it might not be harmful to consume.

Smoke smell and odors typically will not go away completely on their own, especially once the particles have penetrated porous materials like walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture. While airing out affected items can help the smell subside over time, it often lingers for months or even years. To effectively remove stubborn smoke odors, you should combine several methods. Start with a thorough deep cleaning and deodorizing using substances like baking soda or activated charcoal. Air purifiers can also help capture airborne particles. In severe cases, you may need to replace heavily damaged materials. If the smell persists after repeated treatments, consider hiring a professional smoke damage restoration company for assistance.
