"This is the second time we have hired them. They did a great job the first time on our townhouse. We just moved to Tampa and had them paint our condo. The same three guys did this job. They are professional and do a fantastic job. They also do a great job cleaning up."

His team completely made my decks look brand new and gave me advice on how to keep them lasting for more than 2 years! I would highly recommend Alex and his guys! "Jerome did an amazing job! He is professional, easy to communicate with and very detailed. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. His pricing is extremely reasonable with is quality of work he does. When I had a few delays, he was understanding of it and worked around my crazy schedule. While painting he made sure everything was covered so the paint didn’t stain anything. He’s very knowledgeable and walked around the property with me and explained everything. He did repairs that were needed prior to painting that any other person probably would of just painted over. I’m very happy with his service and I will be calling him back for my interior painting."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.

Your tool of choice ultimately comes down to personal preference. Many DIYers prefer applying stain with a lint-free rag, but others stick with a paint brush or a roller. Wipe the stain and work it into the wood, working with and against the grain. If you’re applying multiple coats, allow the stain to dry for around four hours between coats.

Various kinds of substances and deck preservatives act as protective coatings for wood to prevent rot, which is caused by water getting into the wood and creating cracks and splits. Stains, paints, and sealants are the three best options to protect your wood, but there are also oils, varnishes, and waxes available. You’ll need to reapply sealant at least once per year, and you should inspect your wood deck regularly to look for signs of damage or general wear and tear.

Wet-sanding and dry-sanding each have pros and cons. Dry-sanding is less messy, so it’s a good option if you’re trying to minimize dust (for example, if you’re sanding an occupied home or working with particularly dry or dusty drywall mud). However, dry-sanding is quicker because you don’t have to keep rinsing a sponge or wait for it to dry before painting.
