"Brian and his team was very responsive and patient as we changed design on them at least once.  The work was done a little after the expected 6 week time frame, probably due to the fact that they were moving facilities.  The quality of the cabinets is superb.  Couldn't be happier with the work.  Brian is a professional and responsive on phone and email.  Have no issues and highly recommend them for jobs.  While Caseworks is not the cheapest out there, they are probably worth the price.  They will customize nearly every aspect of the build and will work with other craftsmen to get the correct solution in place.

"I had a euro style double kitchen sink that came with the house. I didn't like it. I have a granite countertop that also came with the house that I didn't know where it came from, so would have been difficult to replace a section if it was damaged. I like the granite, & did not want to have to replace it. That was not part of my budget for this job. The cutout for the existing undermount double sink was a strange shape. I wanted a rectangular shape to put in a drop-in single bowl sink. This meant that the granite needed to be cut to conform. I live in a very small town, and it's always difficult to get contractors to come here for any kind of work. For almost 2 years I researched and called around for help until I went looking on Home Advisor. All the previous contractors I spoke with only cut granite for new installs, not in place granite. JCCL was referred by Home Advisor. I called John and explained what I wanted to do. He said he would do it. We agreed on a Saturday very quickly and JCCL drove a long way to get here. They also did the plumbing for the new sink at the same time, so I was not without the sink and water. They showed up on time, did an excellent job, protected my kitchen while working, and collected all their trash, which is very respectful and important to me A lot of people only write negative reviews when they are unhappy. I think it's very important to also write positive reviews also to hopefully help others decide when choosing a contractor. I myself always read the pro and con reviews. Some negative reviews in my opinion can be discounted due to the fault of the customer, lack of knowledge of the job, unrealistic expectations, failure to clarify what the job entailed beforehand, etc, so to be fair, I read both good and bad. . I hope to remodel a bathroom here in the future and JCCL would be the one I would call! Great job! Thank you."

"We have been dealing with contractors and painters for several years with much disappointment and dissatisfaction. Pitts Brothers was recommended by a neighbor when we were searching for an exterior painter for an outdated beach house we purchased out of state. Wow! We scheduled the estimate and they showed up when they said they would. Completed the estimate VERY timely. Gave an itemized breakdown of the costs (there were a few interior items like painting a 3 story foyer and replacing an outdated light in that foyer ), available start date and estimated completion date. Since it was purchased as a rental property, there were some work arounds from our end with renters and Joey was extremely accommodating. He scheduled exterior work when people were there and saved interior/going through the house for when it wasnâ t rented. We completed the walk through with him and HE pointed out things that he needed to touch up. It looked PERFECT to us! The site was left clean- cleaner than he found it! No empty drink cans/bottles, no cigarette butts, Not even spilled paint/splatter on the ground from the clean up- We aren’t used to that. He went out of his way to replace some loose boards on the front porch and step. He replaced a molding/ trim piece around an exterior door that they don’t even sell anymore so he had to buy wood pieces and create the piece. It looked original! He sent pictures almost daily (since we were out of town) of the progress, any questions/to clarify. Any expense outside of the original estimate was because we asked for something additional during the process. He was happy to clarify the request, give us an estimate on that, and add it to the list. When inclement weather interfered with planned exterior paint work, he rearranged and worked on some of the interior requests. Pitts Brothers showed up on time each day and worked a full day (8-3 or 4) with a short lunch break. I have never dealt with such professional contractors IN MY LIFE! I havenâ t dealt with many people as professional as Pitts Brothers in any line of work to be honest. So much so that if/when we need paint work done in our home state, I’ll call and see if they are willing to make a road trip :-)"

Cabinet Contractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, cabinet makers continue to fabricate custom kitchen and other household cabinets for new construction homes. Cabinet makers also replace and renovate existing kitchen cabinets. The cost tends to be higher than choosing manufactured cabinets from a major retailer, but you get the cabinets specially designed and made to fit the unique needs of your space.

Unless otherwise specified in the manufacturer’s instructions, in most cases you should attach the hinges to the cabinet door before attaching it to the cabinet frame. Once you attach the hinge to the door, you can then align it with the cabinet frame and screw it firmly into place. Be sure to consult the manufacturer’s instructions for best practices.

It's possible to replace lower kitchen cabinets without removing the countertop. However, there are some special considerations to keep in mind. Expect to disassemble the existing cabinets without compromising the countertop's support. You might not be able to reuse the cabinets you remove. Next, you'll have to slightly modify the tops of the new cabinets and install blocking after installation to attach the base to the countertop.

The designs are different enough that a conversion would mean more or less fully replacing cabinets to switch between the two. However, if you really like the frameless look but you have face frame cabinets, you may be able to mimic the style by replacing your cabinet doors with full overlay ones.

While most kitchen island installations do not require a permit, some situations do. Any major kitchen renovation will require one, and depending on your municipality, you might also need one if you install new plumbing or electrical work.

Your kitchen island installation pro will be able to determine if you need a permit for your job, which can run you between $460 and $2,900, depending on the permits required.
