"Hired Denn’s Sealcoating for my driveway. He was friendly and professional and gave advice about sealing the driveway cracks. He came on time and did a fantastic job. My neighbor gave a compliment on the good job done. Reasonably priced."

"Robert & Son did our asphalt sealing job. Bob Harrison contacted me right away and his price was competitive. They came as soon as the weather permitted and did a great job sealing the driveway with oil-based sealant and a squeegee. A nice thick coating was put on by Bob's cousin and a helper. Highly recommend! Much better coating than spray-on!"

"My driveway came out great. Bill Sr and Bill Jr and their whole crew were very accommodating and professional. Kept me informed and answered any questions I had throughout the whole process. They came with more machinery and crew than I expected. Everything was done with great care for my and my neighbors properties. They cleaned up my yard, the street and anyplace that they needed to work on. Excellent job! Would definitely use them again as well as recommending them to friends and neighbors."

Driveway Sealcoating questions, answered by experts

It extends pavement life, improves appearance, protects against weather, and reduces maintenance costs.

When comparing installation costs, asphalt is often less expensive upfront than concrete. Asphalt prices typically range from $7 to $15 per square foot, while concrete can range from $3 to $18 per square foot. However, long-term costs should also be considered. Concrete driveways generally last longer (up to twice as long) and require less maintenance, which can make them more affordable over their lifespan. While asphalt has a lower installation cost and is easier to repair, it requires more frequent maintenance, such as sealing, which can add up over time. Therefore, while concrete is more expensive initially, its durability may offset the cost in the long run.

Yes, most services include sealing to protect the finish and enhance durability. Confirm with your provider.

New asphalt typically needs 24 to 72 hours to dry before it can handle light foot traffic and careful driving. Although it may appear solid after a few days, the full curing process, where the asphalt reaches its peak strength, takes much longer—generally from 30 days to a year.

During this extended curing time, the surface remains relatively soft and can be damaged by heavy vehicles, sharp objects, or high temperatures. To protect your investment, it's best to avoid parking heavy machinery on the asphalt until it has fully cured.

The exact time required for drying and curing depends on several factors, including the weather, the specific asphalt mix, and its thickness. For the most accurate advice tailored to your situation, consult with your asphalt contractor.

The best ways to increase the lifespan of your driveway are to carry out proper maintenance and get repairs done quickly. First, reseal your driveway every one to three years to protect it from the elements. If you start to notice significant cracks, hire a professional to diagnose the problem before it gets more serious. You can also use sand instead of salt when de-icing your driveway (since salt is corrosive) and clean your driveway annually using a pressure washer to keep it in tip-top shape.
