"Carlos was excellent to work with. He arrived on time for both the estimate and the job. Delivered and installed 6 yards of mulch. Quick and efficient work for a fair price. I will use Santos again in the future and can highly recommend them. AAA+++"

"We were very happy with Something Constructive. They were on time, very efficient and the foreman and crew worked seamlessly together. They got the structure up quickly. The neighbors were amazed! The General Contractor kept the project going smoothly and was attentive to what we wanted. It seems like the addition has always been there. His price was very reasonable. He quoted us a price of $50,288 but since we wanted to do a lot of the work and purchase the materials ourselves, he worked with us and we ended up paying him $29810."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely make your own mulch, and there are a few ways to go about it. First, you can lay down pine needles or mulched leaves if you’re mulching in the fall. In the spring and summer, you can use mulched grass clippings. Alternatively, you can lay down a few layers of newspaper in your garden and gently wet the paper to keep it in place.

In general, you can prune up to one third of the height of most shrubs without damaging them. There are a few exceptions to this rule: Pine shrubs, for example, can’t be trimmed below the point of new growth without damaging them.

It’s often not necessary to clean up rocks before you sell or donate them, although it’s a nice gesture. Cleaning the rocks you’re getting rid of probably isn’t worthwhile if you’re selling a large volume of small rocks, but if you’re selling or donating large boulders for landscape design, a quick clean might fetch more money or help out the donation center.

If you want to take the decomposition process into your hands to speed it up, water and sunlight are key. Of course, you can’t control sunlight yourself, but you can rake leaves into piles in sunny spots in your yard. In terms of using water, you can also moisten the decomposing leaves with water, whether by pouring some from a watering can from time to time or using a hose to moisten them.

Dormant seasons like fall and winter are the best times to dig up plants, including holly bushes. Plants aren’t growing during these seasons, so the removal process goes a lot quicker. Consider hiring a landscaping team to handle holly bush removal during the cold-weather months for off-season pricing deals, too.
