"Everything was excellent. From the moment we had Advanced Granite solutions come out to give us an estimate, to picking out our quartz countertop, to the gentlemen that did the installation and the gentleman that did the plumbing, everyone was professional responsive and a pleasure to work with. Would definitely hire again"

"What an overwhelmingly positive experience. We hired them because we read their reviews, and we were not disappointed. Everything was quick, efficient, professional, and friendly. They accommodated all requests cheerfully (even when we changed our ideas from our original bid, asking for the granite to be honed, for grooves to be cut on one side of the sink for drainage, and eliminating the backsplash - before the cutting began, of course). The install was painless, and I am impressed with how tight and perfect it all fits. Would highly recommend..."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Marble countertops are often considered better than limestone because of their superior durability and luxurious appearance. Marble is harder and less prone to scratching and denting, though it still requires maintenance and sealing to prevent stains and etching. Marble is typically more expensive, but its beautiful veining and range of colors offer a high-end look.

Yes, marble countertops are fairly soft and can scratch easily, especially compared to rival materials. However, most marble scratches are easy to repair, thanks to marble polish and repair kits. Deep scratches will require a professional.

For most homeowners, quartz and quartzite countertops are similar in price. The average quartz countertop installation costs $80 to $220 per square foot, while quartz countertops cost $70 to $200 per square foot. Of course, there are outliers, like if you choose a highly customized, rare natural stone with high-end finishes.

Formica is a brand of laminate, so all Formica is laminate, but not all laminate is Formica. To identify it, look for a thin, plastic-like surface bonded to a wood or particleboard base. Formica often has branding on the underside. If you don’t see Formica, it could be Wilsonart, another familiar laminate brand. If the countertop is unique, you can visit the Formica site to find a match. Formica is known for creative collaborations that lead to unique design offerings.

Concrete countertops are made food-grade through their sealant and the continued use of a food-grade cleaner. For that reason, it is important not to use acidic cleaners or bleach. Read the ingredients on any cleaner and avoid products with vinegar, acid, or anything else that could eat away at the concrete's sealant.
