"He came to see the work to be done before to get an idea of what it was. On the day of the installation, he was 1/2hr late that morning and showed up with a friend. He explained that since they were 2, he would work 4hrs. Truth is, he did most of the work and the other man did some but overall little work from what I saw. The work was well done and done quickly, but I had to remove the front piece of each fireplace to add the pebbles that came with each fireplace. They were in plain sight the whole time and stayed there. It was difficult for me to remove the front part and put it back after I added the pebbles. I also had to clean up the floors because of the dust caused by the installations and figure out how to get the fireplaces to light up because they had not been connected to any outlet or tested with the remote controls. For the kitchen ceiling light, we wasted time talking about the fact there was no wire to connect the light to a light switch. In fact, it turns out there was one, the same that controls the recessed lights. Then in the garage, where I had 3 ceiling lights to install, there was a huge waste of time of more than an hour prepping the lights, removing what was there and then putting back what was there after Abraham told me the wires on these lights were different from the others and could create a fire hazard. Of course, I did not want such dangerous lights but I would have appreciated being told earlier. Around that time, Abraham had several conversations on his cell phone where he would go back to his truck and the other man would basically just stand there and wait for him to come back and tell him what to do. We then agreed that instead of the garage lights, they would install the new front door and door knobs I had for the house, some being "passage" knobs and others being "privacy" knobs for the bedrooms and bathrooms. I am not sure why but that job modification did not seem to make him happy and I could sense he was eager to leave. This was confirmed when they closed the door and went to sit in the truck. I came outside and he walked to me to ask about a good referral and advertise the other jobs he could do. After they left a good 40 minutes before it was time, I noticed that only the front door and coat closet hardware had been changed. No knobs were changed for any of the other rooms. There was apparently a miscommunication about installing a dimmer in the kitchen. Since there were many knobs to change, I figured he would not have time to do that so I told him to forget about the dimmer. But since he was done early, I think he could have done it or at least ask if I still wanted it done. So overall, the work done was good, but not all the work was done and that "2 men for 4hrs" thing turned out not to be such a good deal after all. So I would re-hire Abraham if he agrees to come alone to do work and make sure we have a clear communication before and during the job.
