Everything was great up until the point that they put the sump pump outlet at the wrong corner of our house, at a place that really doesn?t make sense and has resulted in a swampy puddle of water right next to the house.  This puddle  is a huge mess and makes the new sump pump work overtime as it is continually pumped out and then leaks back in our basement.  Anyone whose business centers around the installation of sump pumps should really know better than to pick such a poor outlet location.   And in fact, I had already suggested a much better location for the outlet when the job was bid.  At that time we agreed that it would come out on a corner of our house  where the slope of the ground carries water away from the house and where we already had landscaping in place to further encourage this.  

I was quite upset when I got home and realized that they had messed up the location of the sump pump outlet.  I called and complained about this and several other quality defects, and got a fast response, with a representative coming out the next day to ?make it right?.  He quickly did the several quick and easy things to fix the problems we pointed out, but the outlet location was neither quick nor easy to fix.  Instead, he just told us that it simply wasn?t possible for technical reasons to put the outlet where we had wanted it.  Perhaps that is the case, but I?m left with the uncomfortable realization that either he or the guy who originally bid the job made a miss-statement (confident mistake?  convenient half-truth?) to get our money and/or make us stop complaining.   Whichever way you slice it, I?m now in the situation of having to pay for significant further landscaping to fix the problem created by the poor choice of outlet location.  Suddenly, this doesn?t seem like a good deal at all.  

By the way, in case you are wondering about the ?other quality defects? that I alluded to, they include:
 1)      One of the workers broke our spray nozzle of our hoze literally in half (no exaggeration) and then just left it for us to find.  (RW bought us a new one just like the old one when we complained.)
2)      Not only was the sump pump outlet in the wrong location, the pipe actually impeded the opening of our gate.  (RW sawed off 6 inches of the pipe.  Problem solved, right?)
3)      The final step of the job was to come in and replace the drywall in our finished basement that had to be cut up to do the installation.  When this was done every single power outlet was cut out poorly enough that there is a visible gap in the drywall when the cover is installed.  A lame jury rig was used in the replacement of the cable jack in the wall in which a hole was just left to pass a cable through from the closet behind the wall."
