"I received a call back within 10 minutes of submitting my request on SM. Paul agreed to stop by the next day to provide an estimate on a bathroom ceiling repair (plaster). He was on time and he was courteous and very respectful with us and our home. Upon deciding to contract his services, he showed up on time both days the job required. He did a magnificent job replastering the whole bathroom ceiling. Paul was very tidy in his craft, very clean and very amicable. I am very pleased with the outcome, his price was very fair. Worth every penny. I'd be recommending Plastering Unlimited to family and friends. I'll also call Paul back in the future"
"Fred Weiss was very pleasant and knowledgeable in my repair work with the ceiling. I had about 10 nail pops that had to be fixed and repainted. Fred did a great job. Would recommend to anyone. I thought he was reasonable too. I have other projects I will call Fred to help me out with those. It was a pleasure meeting you too"
"Had a large stucco repair and replacement project which was including the installation of 9 windows. The owner of the company explained everything. Walked me through the project and completed the work in a timely manor. Work was excellent. Would definitely recommend!!"
"We started work with Joe over the summer when he did the original work - mid July. We had several rooms that needed to be addressed, but most important was getting the bathroom done. Joe came to do an estimate very quickly. The estimate was extremely fair, well laid out, and he was quick to send it. The job took the better part of a week. His workers were fabulous - really friendly and put up with our crazy dog who loved them and wanted to know what they were doing. They were very accommodating when we asked questions and dealt with our plumber being there one of the days as well. It was a big job, and they left the house clean and neat at the end of each day which was a huge bonus. The work itself was really good with no problems. They even put a skim coat over plaster that had cracked during original demo work which was nice. He said he'd get back to me to schedule the rest of the work. I contacted him in September to schedule the rest of the work, he said he would, and then didn't email me back. I contacted him again the end of November asking to schedule us for the week of Dec 28 and he said that would work which was perfect because my office was closed. My husband and I cancelled our travel plans and cut short our Christmas visit with family so we could be home for the work to be done. Dec 17 he said he may be finishing up other jobs and asked what my other availability was, which I have none until May which I told him. I received no response until I emailed again on the 27th asking if we were still on, which he said he'd rather not because he'd like to focus on the job completely and asked to figure out another time. I completely understand that things happen and jobs run over, but it was absolutely devastating to have waited so long and cancel everything. Their original work was perfect, their price was exactly within our budget, and I truly loved the team. I cannot praise them enough for the job they had completed. However, the communication was less than desirable. I really wish we could have had them in for the rest of the work. "
If you’re looking for a reliable plaster repair company, you should start by researching local companies in your area and reviewing their status with the Better Business Bureau. Next, you can contact the potential companies to ask about experience levels, get a list of references, and ask for examples of past work. If you have a textured wall, consider asking if they have examples or references for that particular texture. This method should help you narrow your search even further. You may also want to ask each company if they provide a warranty for their work.
Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.
Professionals diagnose underlying causes, such as structural shifts or moisture problems, and apply appropriate solutions like reinforcement, patching, or sealing. These measures restore wall integrity and prevent recurrence, ensuring long-term stability.
Whether you can install or repair plaster yourself depends on the project's size and your comfort level with DIY projects. It's possible to handle small repairs on your own, but for larger projects like a room restoration or a full installation, it's often best to hire a local plaster professional. The final appearance, even coverage, and durability of the plaster depend heavily on proper wall preparation and application. If you are not 100% confident in your ability to achieve a professional result, letting an expert handle the job is a worthwhile investment.
