Customers say: Quick response

"Alvin responded to my request with in 1 min and Matt was at my house within an hour. This was to be a very quick 1 hour job that required snaking the drain in my kitchen sink. Unfortunately, it turned into a 4 hour job that required removing 10 feet of VERY clogged pipe and replacing it. All of the details were explained before they started the work and we were also given to options on how it could be repaired. The job was done beautifully and nothing in the house was damaged and the kitchen and basement were both left clean. I would use Alvin's Plumbing service again and I recommend you do the same."

"Terrific experience. Jonathan and Dan were very courteous and punctual. I was provided with a ballpark estimate in advance ans the pricing was fair. They resolved my issue in a timely matter and cleaned up the area before leaving. Wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future!"

"Jonathan was a lifesaver. The well circuit breaker had flipped earlier that morning. I called plumber because there was no water. The series of evenst that followed were horriffic. Plumber had flipped the well switch back, turned on the water and left. Neighbors called to tell me te basement windows were pumping out smoke. The fire deprtment came and shut everything down. I contacted Johnathan as a well specialist. That he is. He troublshooted the problem. The well switched tripped. The pump was burned out, fire, pressure valve and fittings melted. He replaced the hot water heater, all fittings and new pressure pump installed. I give Jonathan R. Habacker Pumbing, LLC the highest ratings possible. He also pointed out other future issues. I will be having him install new hot water heater, well serviced and/or replacement. HE is my only contact for well and plumbing issues. Make him yours. With much respect for quality work. Carol A. Drain Cleaning FAQs, answered by experts

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.

To unclog a plumbing vent, you first need to locate it. Look at your home's roofline. The plumbing vent will be a vertical pipe sticking straight up from the roof. Since this pipe runs all the way to the main drain underneath your house, you should also be able to find it in the attic.

If your dishwasher isn’t draining, some common causes include a clogged drain filter, drain hose, or air gap. Also, if you have a garbage disposal, a clog in the disposal can back up your dishwasher since they share plumbing, as can a clog in your kitchen sink’s plumbing. A handy DIYer may be able to figure out how to unclog a dishwasher, but you may need to call in a plumber if you can’t locate and clear the clog yourself.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

For disposal clogs with standing water, use a sink plunger and place it over the garbage disposal drain. Push the sink plunger up and down the drain about six to eight times before lifting. If the sink drains, the clogged food particles are dislodged from the drain. If there’s still standing water, repeat the steps until the standing water clears out.
