"The guy showed up to remove our small tree that had sentimental value and move it to a different location and all he brought was a post-hole digger. I should have kicked him off the property right then and there. They ended up using a machine since a post-hole digger is for digging post holes not digging up trees. They quickly moved it to the new location and buried the roots quick so I wouldn't see that he completely ruined the root system. I took every care to nurture the tree but it eventually died 2 months later. We planted it in commemoration of our Son. Never, Ever, hire this company."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

DIY is risky and not recommended for large trees; professional services ensure safe removal and proper disposal.

Local tree removal prices range from $200 to $2,000 overall, but vary depending on:

  • Local cost of labor and supplies

  • Accessibility of the tree

  • Local laws regarding who is allowed to remove the tree

  • The species of the tree (softer woods are often easier to remove)

  • Local seasonal discounts for the off-season

The cost to buy a stump grinder can fall anywhere between $1,450 and $19,800, with the majority of models priced below $3,000. However, grinders designed for construction or extensive commercial use might exceed $100,000 in cost. Prices vary based on the type of grinder, the brand, features, and other factors.

Tree removal can be quite expensive, especially for larger projects, but you can use the following tips to help keep costs down:

  • Do the yard cleanup afterward yourself

  • Choose to leave the logs on your property and split them yourself

  • Opt to leave the stump in the ground and tackle stump grinding yourself

  • Pull permits for tree removal, if necessary, to avoid fines

  • Pay to have multiple trees removed at once

  • Remove tree in the late winter or early spring during off-season

Bleach can potentially kill some types of delicate ornamental trees, but for the most part, it will only kill the foliage it comes in contact with. Applying bleach is not an effective method of killing a tree. A better option is to use an herbicide, which is a chemical compound designed to effectively kill a tree.
