"Had some concerns about my wood stove - gasket sealing, safety. Had them come out to clean the stove pipe, inspect the wood stove, and clean a fireplace chimney. Staff was very knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, and professional. Told me the fireplace chimney didn't need cleaning, and that the wood stove gaskets were fine. Cleaned the stove pipe and left no mess. Will definitely use them in the future.

"I sent a quote request to Jose the other day to replace my chimney cap which had blown off earlier in the week. About an hour later I got a phone call and that evening he came by to assess the job and provide me a quote. The next morning at 8am, he was on my roof getting the job done. For the gutters, he removed my gutter guards, cleaned out everything thoroughly, and sent me pictures showing me his work. I will absolutely call Jose again in the future for similar jobs. I've already recommended him to a few people for gutter cleaning services, hopefully they will be calling him soon."

Cutting stone makes this a messy job due to the dust created.  However, Larry & Jason did everything possible to keep the dust down and the final product was beautiful and more than we could have hoped for!  We are extremely happy and satisfied with the timeliness and quality of the work.

"My experience with JRM Carpentry started when my husband and I wanted a weight-bearing wall between the kitchen and living room removed in our new house. In order to do this, we needed a licensed company and a building permit. JRM Carpentry came by the house and responded promptly to our quote request. They explained everything they needed to do to make the house structures safe and compliant with building codes. They got the job done quickly and professionally. From then, we needed the floor plywood to be replaced and leveled and insulated before our new floors arrived and we needed new sheetrock on the kitchen walls where we had demolished all the existing cabinets and wall tiles. After that, we asked them to remove a window in the living room so that we could make a stone wall for the television and a built-in fireplace. Everything was done very well in a timely manner and at a reasonable price. I would highly recommend JRM Carpentry. I will continue to use their services as we continue with other home improvement projects."

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.

No, you can’t install just any microwave over your range. You have to get a specific type of microwave known as an over-the-range unit. These include venting and lighting features that you’ll need above your stovetop.

Although countertop units are more affordable, they won’t work for this type of installation. To avoid hazardous conditions in your kitchen, buy the right type of microwave for your needs.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

Most residential range hoods have a CFM between 200 and 600. A higher CFM means your range hood is better at removing smoke and odors from your kitchen. The measurement ultimately depends on your stove’s width and heat output as well as the size of your kitchen.

Compared to the average size of a stove and kitchen, 350 CFM would be the minimum recommended rating for the average kitchen. However, selecting a higher CFM range hood would guarantee better ventilation to match your cooking habits, whether they’re minimal or extensive.

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.
