"American Safe Wash couldn’t do the job right after 4 attempts and the owner lied and wrote derogatory comments about me in previous social media which is why I am posting every where I can.... I hired them in 2018 (Invoice 3313) and after a full day of washing my home my well was dry. When I called to let them know they took absolutely no responsibility and said “you should have told us you had a well and we would have brought a water truck.” This snarky response was enough for me to decide to never use them again. Especially since the sales person, Carrie, literally tripped over my well when providing the estimate. And, by the way, since they drained it, I needed to replace my expansion tank and well pump. Now in 2020, without my knowledge, a painting contractor hired American Safe Wash to clean the house and fence before paint. It was a disaster. Drips were everywhere. If an employee left the front of the house with such obvious drips, it goes to show that the owner did not train, support, or supervise them properly. When I complained after their 2nd failed attempt, they sent their salesman out to “explain how soft wash worked.” In preparation for this visit, I broke out my electric washer and cleaned a section of the fence to show what it was supposed to look like. The salesman quickly conceded and sent the crew back for a 3rd time and I watched the crew apply the cleaner from the top down which is the wrong way to do it (supposed to apply cleaner from bottom and work upward) and explains why there are so many drip marks. I called the owner to complain and he agreed they were supposed to apply cleaner from the bottom up and he sent the same, apparently untrained crew back. So, on their 4th visit, they arrived and as they saw all of the misses and drips, they looked dumbfounded, and were virtually incommunicative. I simply expressed my dissatisfaction and in no way was I every derogatory as the owner suggested in other posts. The owner later admitted that they had mental disabilities but yet he sends them out to work and talk with customers who are clearly frustrated because of their lack of training, support, and supervision. Remember, this was the 4th time they were at my home. And, to top it off, during this 4th visit they became irritated, acted unprofessionally, and did not complete the job. There is no reason to believe that they can complete the job properly even after a 5th attempt. When I called the owner to complain, he was nice at first but soon became enraged and turned the situation and blamed me for not being “nice” to his employee, calling me a “hater” over the phone. I don’t think I have ever had such a heated conversation with an owner of a company. And, to show you what kind of person the owner is, when I wrote a negative review on another web site, the owner lied about our phone conversation making childlike, inaccurate, and derogatory comments about me trying to make me look like a bad guy. For the record, if the owner does not CEASE AND DESIST these actions, I will pursue legal action against his company and him personally. The fact that this owner lied and manipulated the situation is exactly why I wrote this negative review. It is not about the quality of the job, things happen, but his unethical behavior needs to be called out. To prove how unethical this company is, I found a review on another site where one of their sales people Cyr P. wrote a 5 star review pretending to be a customer. His review said; “Don’t have your home pressure washed, have it Safe Washed. Low pressure soft wash cleaning with unbelievable results. Made my siding look brand new!” On or around June of 2020, the owner responded “Thank you for your business!”. On February 7, 2020, the same person Cyr P. sent me an email trying to sell their services. I have the screen shots of this review along with his email to prove it. I believe this is fraud and I and have contacted the CT attorney general."

With our extensive knowledge and experience, we stand out from the competition. Contact us today for reliable and efficient chimney repairs.

"At the beginning it seemed that Chimney USA would have the expertise to complete the work well. There were some waiting on parts, that wasn’t a big problem at the time because I wanted it done right. The estimate listed that they would remove the front stone work to be able to get to the steel box fire box for removal and install new steel firebox, then replace all the stone work. Neither one of these parts was done. The 4 metal vents weren’t removed and replaced, the ash door was not installed. There seemed to be a problem figuring out how to get the steel firebox manufactured and to have it installed. The steel firebox was needed so that the side heating vents in the fireplace would work to bring heat into the room. As time went on, there was no resolution to get the firebox and install it. Very frustrating. I finally made the decision to just build the firebox using firebrick. This was a mistake now because there is no exchange of heat for the room vents now. We agreed to have grey firebrick and they installed a grey “cement” (not a fire brick and wouldn’t stand up for the heat of a fire) brick and the installation wasn’t complete to seal off the firebox. The masons didn’t seem to know what they were doing. This would mean that smoke would fill the room. I texted, sent photos, and sent a video of the issues and Chimney USA decided to send their masons back out the next day to fix this problem. This time they didn’t have the grey firebrick, but only red firebrick. They removed the grey “concrete” bricks and installed the red firebricks. None of the workers spoke English which made communication difficult. They had to use a translation app on their phone to communicate with each other. The masons didn’t understand that the firebox had to be completely sealed off so smoke wouldn’t enter the room. Finally, that firebox was complete, but not what I was expecting. The ash door was never found to fit my opening and never installed. The rock face removal and steel firebox was never completed. Those costs were far more expensive than just building the brick firebox. Their cost for the custom stone removal and install of the face of my fireplace was estimated at $3,200 and the steel firebox with damper was estimated at $2,135. Total of $5,335. This was taken off Angi on what it should have cost just to do what they did which was to remove the steel firebox and build a brick firebox. “How Much Does Firebox Repair or Replacement Cost? [2024 Data] Normal range: $160 - $750 Firebox repair or replacement costs $455 on average, but it can cost between $160 and $750, depending on the project's scope and details.” Based on this I’m being charge almost $5,000 for work not complete. This should have been adjusted based on the work complete and the estimate scaled down to represent the job completed. They want me to pay the whole original estimate. I contacted Chimney USA to say that the bill needed to be updated with a lessor amount based on the final work, but they didn’t respond, except to keep sending me the same estimate bill to be paid in full."

We are a family-owned company specializing in dryer vent cleaning/installations. Owner operated since 2010. We have a variety of forms of payment options that include: checks, cash, and most major credit cards.

"I really had high hopes in this company. After spending a lengthy period of time in my house taking pictures and collecting dust. I was left with a hefty estimate and someone who clearly has no etiquette when entering someones home. I tried to overlook a lot especially as I watched him ridiculously mark up his estimates. I didn't appreciate feeling like I was being taking advantage of. The suggestions he made where so off base. For example he want to run my vent out of the front of my house versus the back where it is currently located. I live in a colonial and told him that would ruin the look of the front of the house. At the end of the day I was left with a crazy estimate of $1238.00!!! Ya no thanks! I found someone who was far more professional, valued cleanliness and wearing booties in my home, spent four hours cleaning and repairing and charged me $300. They were so amazing I hired them to do other work. Please don't come into people's homes and take advantage. Glad I continued to look for someone better."

FAQs for dryer vent cleaning projects in Norfolk, CT

The average cost to clean a dryer vent is around $140, but you could pay between $75 and $325, depending on the size of your dryer vent, accessibility, and how much debris is caught inside the vent. A first-floor or basement vent will usually be the most affordable to professionally clean, while a second-floor or roof vent will be more expensive due to additional equipment required for access. Your price could increase higher than these estimates if you also want an official dryer vent inspection or if your professional discovers that you need vent repairs.

Yes, dryer vent cleaning is absolutely worth the money. The service is relatively inexpensive and quick, and the value and peace of mind you get for the investment make it worthwhile. A clogged dryer vent is a significant fire risk, so the average $140 you might pay to have your dryer vent cleaned once a year could save you thousands of dollars in home repairs if the clog causes a fire. Additionally, some homeowner’s insurance companies will charge you a lower premium if you provide receipts of annual dryer vent cleanings by a professional.

Some signs of a clogged dryer vent include the following:

  • Your clothes take longer than usual to dry.

  • The exterior of your dryer gets very hot during operation.

  • You see lint around the area where the vent leaves your exterior wall.

  • You notice unusual or burning odors during dryer operation.

If you notice any of these signs, discontinue use and call a dryer vent cleaning service immediately. Neglecting a clogged dryer vent drastically increases the risk of a fire starting in your home.

It’s possible to clean out your dryer vent yourself, and it’s recommended between professional cleanings. You can disconnect the vent, remove lint and debris by hand, and then vacuum the inside of the vent hose using vacuum extensions. However, a DIY dryer vent cleaning should never replace a professional cleaning. At least once per year, you should hire a professional dryer vent cleaner to clear your dryer vent, regardless of how often you clean it yourself. This schedule will provide peace of mind and increased safety for your family and your home.

You should have your dryer vent cleaned by a professional at least once per year. Over time, lint and other debris from your laundry get caught throughout the vent, causing a few different issues. A less severe problem caused by a clogged dryer vent is extended drying time for your clothes, which increases energy costs. More importantly, lint in a clogged dryer vent can easily catch fire, putting your household members and your home at significant risk. Keep in mind that decades-old dryer vent systems may need increased cleaning, so plan to complete this task twice per year.
