"Art and his crew came by a couple of weeks ago to look over the property. He and I discussed several options and I decided to have him take care of our front lawn cleanup only. They arrived today, ahead of schedule, and did a very good job: shrub and flower beds cleaned out, driveway spotless, lawn as neat as can be. And he reduced the price, as the job went a little more quickly than anticipated. We will reach out to them for brush pile cleanup in the winter and summer lawn care program. Great find!"

"Glen Lamb and his company is a first class tree removal company. They cleared 50+ trees in a one acre plot of land in a highly professional and efficient manner. His crew cleared the land leaving nothing behind. His final price did not exceed his quote and was more than reasonable. The entire job was done to perfection in just four days. Each day, Glen called to apprise me of their progress. I could not have asked for a better outcome for the job I needed done. I highly recommend this firm for any land clearing operation!"

"Jeff is just the type of entrepreneur you like to work with. He called me within 5 minutes of my request for lawn services and showed up at the house to walk the property and provide an estimate within the hour. The work was scheduled and completed in one day the following Saturday; there were 4 guys working very hard for more than 3 hours. Jeff and the crew are smart, hard-working, and go way out of their way to make sure they have done a good job. Jeff also utilizes state of the art software (Quickbooks) for providing estimates, invoicing, etc. What a rarity! Do not hesitate to hire Lawn Monkey Landscaping!"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

You can’t build on undeveloped land without preparing it for construction, which involves running utilities to the site or accounting for private utilities like wells and septic systems and grading and compacting the soil for safe construction. Once you prepare the land, you can build on it as long as the project abides by local zoning regulations.

Surveys completed by licensed surveyors can be recorded with a local surveying records office, and in most cases, they will be. Filing survey reports categorize them as legal documents, and they can be used whenever legal documentation of your property’s boundaries is needed. While you’re not required to file survey documents, it’s a good idea to do so.

Land surveys don’t technically expire. They do serve as a point of reference and a snapshot of your property, though, so as soon as you make changes to your property (and even if your neighbor makes certain changes to theirs), your existing land survey becomes inaccurate, and a new one must be done. Even if you don’t make any changes to your property, many states only guarantee the accuracy of a land survey for five to ten years.

Prior to excavation, you should prepare the dig site and call 311 before you sign anything.

To get your site ready for excavation, you should move anything in the area that isn’t affixed to the land. You can save money on the excavation by removing hardscaping, including walkways, decks, concrete patios, and paver patios.

Before you carry out any digging, you should call 311 to confirm that there are no utility lines running through your excavation site. Skipping this step could lead to severe injury and property damage if your excavator hits a water, sewage, or gas line.

A boundary survey measures the boundary lines of the property, only the length of each property line and their locations. A land survey includes a more in-depth measurement of the property, including the heights and depths of the terrain measured by a topographic survey. A boundary survey is typically the most cost-effective method for marking and measuring property lines.
