"Ryan did a fantastic job taking down a few dead trees and a few huge trees hanging over my pool house!! He and Shayne were great to work with, they both went out of their way to do the job on 2 very hot n humid days! They came back the next day and power washed my home and cleaned up all the brush from the trees!!!! I will have them back in the fall for more trees to come down! I highly recommend RC Property Services!"

Small jobs welcome

"I hired DALTT Land Clearing to remove my above ground pool, pool deck, and other old junk and debris from my yard. The owner, Don, was professional, punctual, and very informative throughout the entire process. The job was done in a day and I am very pleased with the outcome. Very reasonable price was an added bonus. I would highly recommend hiring DALTT Land Clearing if you have a similar job to be done or other excavating needs."

"Jeff repaired/ rebuilt our crumbling lake wall.Over a 4 day period he rebuilt our wall from lake bottom up using no mortar & fitted the stones to give a natural but safe border to our yard. Even put in a set of natural stone stairs so our older dog could safely access the lake. Jeff works hard & takes pride in his work & price was reasonable as well. We are very happy we went with AJ&J Excavating !"

Land Clearing Services questions, answered by experts

If you can’t find any records online, you’ll need to contact your county clerk’s office to do further research. They should have property records on file, or can at least point you in the right direction of who to contact. You can also speak with your neighbors about when their houses were built because they were likely built around the same time.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water.

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.

You can’t build on undeveloped land without preparing it for construction, which involves running utilities to the site or accounting for private utilities like wells and septic systems and grading and compacting the soil for safe construction. Once you prepare the land, you can build on it as long as the project abides by local zoning regulations.

Permit requirements to clear land vary by municipality, so whether or not you need permits depends on where you live and what you’re removing from the land. Some building departments will require permits for any underground work or excavation, meaning grinding down tree stumps on your property would require permits. Others mandate individual permits for each tree you remove. You can contact your local building department or a land-clearing specialist near you to see if permits are necessary for your job.

A few different types of land surveys can help determine certain features and boundaries of your property. These include:

  • Boundary surveys describe the actual borders of a property. These are generally required when trying to get construction permits issued.

  • Location surveys provide much of the same information as a boundary survey but also include in-depth information about any improvements made to your property.

  • Mortgage location surveys are usually required by lenders and title companies before financing or offering an insurance policy.

  • Site-planning surveys are done before applying for building permits and can be issued before any major home improvements.

  • Topographic surveys provide a formal map of land elevations. It can also describe the location and size of natural features and any land improvements.
