Customers say: True professional

"John and Ray did an excellent job on our hardwood floors! They added to our existing hardwood floors, sanded everything, stained and finished the floors and they came out looking great. They were very patient with all of our questions and showed great attention to detail to make sure everything was done right. It was a pleasure having them work in our home!"

Emergency services offered

"I absolutely love this company. I was able to receive great customer through the whole process. I was able to see samples beforehand and I was able to allow them in my home while I was at work. If you are looking for a business that will be reliable, safe, efficient, and fast then Artwood Floors is the place for you. I plan on using them again to do my deck area as well. I used them to redo my hardwood floors throughout my entire home. They not only finished on time but ahead of time. :-)"

Customers say: Quick response

"James Thompson and his crew did a great job. They had to first remove the rug on the stairs to the second floor as well as fix one of the stairs under the rug. The stairs had to be sanded and at the same time they installed hardwood flooring in my entire upstairs hallway. The 3 coats of polyurethane had to be applied to the stairs over those 3 days and looks great now. I am very happy with his work and his price was very fair."

Small jobs welcome

"Thiago and his team were wonderful. They turned our dry, stained, beat up hardwood into gleaming, hydrated, beautiful floors! He was initially quick to respond, quoted us an extremely reasonable price and completed the job in record time. I would absolutely recommend him and will be using him again in the future!"

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

Yes, carpet tiles are easy to install—even if you don’t have much DIY experience. In fact, the simple installation process is one of the main reasons that people choose carpet tiles over traditional carpet. Since carpet tiles come in individual squares, they aren’t as heavy or awkward to install as regular carpet. Plus, you don’t need specialized equipment (like knee kickers or carpet stretchers) when installing carpet tiles.

Your cat may pee in the house in spots where cats have previously left urine stains, so make sure to clean any pet urine stains thoroughly. Avoid using ammonia cleaners if you have cats, as the smell can also attract them to relieve themselves.

You can mop bamboo floors, but exercise caution to protect the material from excess moisture, which can seep into the bamboo, causing it to warp and well. Moisten a microfiber mop and wring it out until it’s just damp, or use a pH-neutral cleaner, as this will prevent damage to the bamboo fibers. Avoid harsh chemicals, like traditional floor cleaners. After cleaning, wipe the floor dry.

Carpeting with a low pile is both slip-resistant and soft, making it one of the safest types of flooring in the case of slips and falls. In order to be fully ADA-compliant, carpet shouldn’t exceed the thickness of half an inch, and you should secure the edges to the floor to prevent trip hazards.

Other ADA-compliant flooring options include hardwood, laminate, or ceramic tile with a gritty, anti-slip surface. Ceramic or porcelain tile are actually some of the best types of flooring for wheelchair users.

Some root cellars are made with concrete, but a dirt floor may be better for your crops' longevity. Dirt can help maintain an appropriate temperature and humidity level, while the concrete might suck up all the moisture. Dirt floors can also bring down the overall cost of your root cellar. But, if you’re going with a dirt floor, make sure you properly insulate between your house and the root cellar.
