"Marc Cowan and his Highland Window Company are the best, from quotation to completion. We are extremely happy with our new Harvey windows and the installation crew Neal, Hilton and Dean, was fantastic. We can't recommend Highland Windows highly enough! They really deserve their "A", 5-star rating. So pleased that we have also recently had them quote on siding replacement."

They even helped me cut some shelves for my Kitchen cupboards. Would definitely recommend and hire again. And Harvey windows can’t be beat!! One of the best products on the market!! "Diego is a perfectionist & uses only superior quality glass and modern hardware. He installed a sliding glass shower door within a week of measuring and took only a few hours as he has a number of helpers. I’m so pleased with the result and it really makes the renovated bathroom a showstopper!"

"We are very satisfied with Custom-Built. They arrived when they said they would and purchased red aluminum trim to go with the other windows we have instead of using white which the contract called for. \I noticed a couple of holes in two screens after they left and the company send a man out a few days later to replace them."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can resilver old mirrors without any issues, and in many cases, it’s is the only way to maintain and preserve old, antique mirrors. Resilvering involves stripping the old silver off of the mirror, replacing the silver, and adding a protective backing to the glass. The process costs around $15 per square foot of glass, making it a relatively inexpensive solution for making older mirrors functional again. You can buy a DIY resilvering kit, but we strongly recommend hiring a professional to avoid additional damage and mistakes.

When glass shatters, larger shards quickly drop to the ground, but smaller particles can go on an airborne journey up to 15 feet from the point of impact. So check under furniture, along the edges of rugs, and in dark corners for glass fragments. When in doubt, vacuum the entire room a few times after thoroughly cleaning.

The average mirror has a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. After that, the coating begins to deteriorate, losing its reflective properties. Acrylic mirrors have a slightly shorter lifespan of seven to 10 years. Higher-quality acrylic sheets with UV-resistant properties have lifespans similar to those of your average mirror. By maintaining your mirrors and keeping them out of direct sunlight when not in use, you can extend their lifespan. Some mirrors can last for decades.

A common way to modernize arched windows is to install interior window treatments that allow light through the curved portion up to and let you cover the bottom portion for privacy. You can also install plantation shutters to make an arched window look more modern. From the exterior, arched windows can appear outdated if they’re coupled with ornate trim, so toning down the decor can make your window look more natural with a modern design.

For small cracks, glass-bonding glue that can be pressed into cracks may be able to save a broken mirror. If a corner of a mirror has been chipped, you may be able to conceal the fact by adding a border or frame to the mirror. Deeper cracks and chips should be addressed by a glass-restoration professional if you're trying to preserve an antique or heirloom mirror.
