"Marc Cowan and his Highland Window Company are the best, from quotation to completion. We are extremely happy with our new Harvey windows and the installation crew Neal, Hilton and Dean, was fantastic. We can't recommend Highland Windows highly enough! They really deserve their "A", 5-star rating. So pleased that we have also recently had them quote on siding replacement."

"Everything went very smooth. Aaron was extremely helpful with the sales process, and his installation crew was top notch. Complete professionals and gentlemen. They even helped me cut some shelves for my Kitchen cupboards. Would definitely recommend and hire again. And Harvey windows can’t be beat!! One of the best products on the market!! "Diego is a perfectionist & uses only superior quality glass and modern hardware. He installed a sliding glass shower door within a week of measuring and took only a few hours as he has a number of helpers. I’m so pleased with the result and it really makes the renovated bathroom a showstopper!"

"We are very satisfied with Custom-Built. They arrived when they said they would and purchased red aluminum trim to go with the other windows we have instead of using white which the contract called for. \I noticed a couple of holes in two screens after they left and the company send a man out a few days later to replace them."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Replacing a glass pane is much less expensive than replacing your entire window. The average person will pay between $180 and $400 to replace a glass window pane. This price can vary based on a ton of factors, including labor costs in your area, special window treatments, and the number of panes on your window.

The best way to pack mirrors is to use specially padded cartons or boxes made for mirrors. Be sure to thoroughly wrap the fragile mirror in padded paper or bubble wrap before sliding it into its box. That way, there’s a protective barrier in between the mirror and the box. Then, fill in any gaps with crumpled paper or additional packing materials.

The methods outlined here are intended for surface scratches—ones that don’t cut into the glass very deeply. For deep scratches, you should consider a more comprehensive glass scratch repair kit. These kits come with abrasives, polishing compounds, and specialized tools designed for removing deep scratches from glass. If you feel uncomfortable tackling a deep scratch on your own, consider calling a local glass repair contractor.

Hard water stains can permanently damage your glass if left untreated. The minerals dissolved in the water can etch the glass, causing long-term damage and affecting the overall integrity of the surface. Luckily, it is pretty simple to remove hard water stains by using vinegar, baking soda, or commercial cleaners.

Yes, you can replace just one pane of glass in a sliding glass door, but you may need to contact the door manufacturer directly to get the proper dimensions of the pane. It’s also worth checking your door’s warranty, as various parts may be covered for a particular timeframe, so you may not have to pay for the replacement pane. But consider the condition of the rest of the door. If the door is old or in bad shape, replacing the entire door is probably more cost-effective.
