Customers say: Quality work

"Daragh was professional and personable. Reasonably priced, especially for the perfect finished product he left. He also left a clean room, not a bunch of plaster all over the place. Would definitely recommend him to anyone."

"Steven did an outstanding job. His work ethic and attention to detail is unparalleled. My wife and I had him remove all popcorn ceilings in our living room, kitchen and dining area and repair and paint those ceilings. He repaired and painted the ceilings and walls in the hallway. He also repaired and painted the bathroom ceiling and walls as well. He also removed wall paper in the living room, (this room was extremely difficult as there were numerous layers of stuff to remove) dining area and kitchen and repaired and painted all walls in those rooms. It was a big project and some complications arose but Steve expertly handled it all and never cut any corners. I highly recommend his services and we will definitely have him back when the need arises."

"We had terrible damages to our roof from the recent storm, and needed it repaired urgently. Ice dams also needed to be cleared off to prevent further leaking and damages. I saw that this company had great reviews, when they reached out they made my repair and consultation urgent and withing 2 days my repairs were completed. quality products used, they were professional and made sure to show pictures and video of the before and after. It was a pleasure working with their team."

"Andy came the next day after we called him and gave us a very reasonable estimate for the painting of our kitchen, dining room/living room, as well as making a repair to the ceiling and painting the entire ceiling into the hallway. He and his crew knocked it out in three-and-a-half days. His crew was very neat and always cleaned up. Andy also carted all his garbage at the end of the job. CT Home Improvement are friendly, reliable and trustworthy. I recommend them."

"Brendan and Eric did a superb job covering an overwhelming black rock fireplace from the mantle up to the ceiling with sheet rock, plaster, and paint. The result is wonderful. They were friendly, efficient, well priced. We have further work. Hope they are available at that time. RVM"

"Hassan was hired to replace my trash compactor and redo my countertops. He did a great job with both. He removed the trash compactor the same day he came to give me the quote. He went above an beyond as I had kept adding little projects along the way ... replace my doorbell, fix a bedroom closet door, remove a latch on my basement door. He is such a good worker. Communication was a problem in the beginning with him not keeping in touch with me as to his work schedule, but that was worked out. As I will be moving in the near future, I told him I will be calling on him again if I need his help at my new home."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.

If your premixed drywall mud is dried out or has begun to set in the bucket, you may be able to revive it by adding warm water and stirring. However, the first and most important step is to scrape off any hard, dried bits of drywall that may have accumulated toward the top of the container and throw them away because they will not easily reconstitute back into the drywall mud mix.

You can skim coat plaster, but it’s better to repair the plaster itself. A skim coat is a thin coat of drywall joint compound spread over the surface of a wall. The result is a flat finish that looks pleasing, but part of the appeal of plaster is its imperfections and aesthetic. Skim coating is best when limited to drywall applications.

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

Wondering who to call for ceiling repair? While you can hire a handyperson to fix minor cracks, you’ll want to hire a drywall professional for larger issues. Depending on the cause of the crack, you may need to hire other contractors, such as a foundation contractor, mold remediation company, roofer, or plumber near you.
