"This project went very well. My driveway had been damaged/washed out after a large tree was taken down. Arnold's did an excellent job fixing it. He was on-time and got the job done efficiently. He was at my house at 7 am and was finished in time for me to head off to work. This job took two days - day one he cut and prepared the area. On the second day (following day) he paved it. He leveled the area and also put down sand. I will have him back in the spring to seal the driveway as he explained that it was now too cold to seal. He also explained that the new patch needs a month before it could be sealed. I highly recommend him."

"Claudino cut about nine tall oak trees and he felled them exactly where he said he would! Wow! He cleaned up and was very courteous. I definitely recommend this company. The price was better than all the rest. Awesome job. Al S. Canterbury, CT"

"I reached out to Efran to get a quote for my driveway. It was half asphalt and half concrete and had shifted a lot due to improper drainage. I got him to extend the driveway to a retaining wall that was itself in need of attention. It was bowed out and lacked pointing. In-between the wall and my old driveway was a shed that had no foundation. I asked if he'd be able to move it to atop of the retaining wall and he said he'd try. He came up with a plan to fix the drainage issue and also added a conduit pipe under the new driveway. He did everything he said he would and even removed some small stumps for me. He wasn't able to move the shed but he managed my expectations early and let me know it may not work. I highly recommend him and his team to anyone needing work done!"

"I had two patio sliding doors removed and replaced & due to the existing openings, there was a lot more work involved to make new doors fit. It was amazing how Nixon and his crew removed and replaced all the 50 yr. old trim and created matching moldings inside & out. Everyone worked non-stop and were delightful, respectful of property and very easy to welcome into my home. Nixon is on site, very experienced, and I appreciated his guidance in choosing new materials. He gave choices, explanations & prices on the new trim so I could stay on budget. The doors and new trim inside and out look fabulous because of the high quality workmanship of Nixon and his crew. I will be calling Nixon for any future projects!"

"Arturo installed a stone wall on the front of my house in 2015, and since I wanted him to match the stone with the stone wall surrounding my front lawn, he did it perfectly! Then In 2024, I had him come back to fix a portion of my stone wall and install drainage, since I had a water problem that had pushed out part of my stone wall and again, it came out perfect. Not only that, he did both jobs for a fair price and I never had to worry about him price gouging me like other contractors do. I will always call Arturo for any stone work that I need. "As others have said here on Home Advisor, Vincent and his wife Grecia do outstanding work, communicate better than any other contractor I've ever hired, and most importantly to me they are quality people. The price was fair and reasonable; they were flexible and super trustworthy. I actually enjoyed having them at my home believe it or not. We needed to tear up an old concrete driveway (~50' x 12') and replace it. Initially we thought we were going to go with asphalt because of the lower cost, but when we discussed the pros and cons with Vincent and compared his quote to those from other companies, we realized AA Outdoor could do a high quality concrete driveway at a price that was comparable to asphalt. Concrete will also save us maintenance and expense over asphalt too, and that decision was made in part because of the excellent communication and feedback from Vincent when we first started discussing the project. Vincent is very knowledgable and has decades of quality experience; I asked a ton of questions and he answered them all - I actually learned a lot from him. I recommend Vincent and Grecia (AA Outdoor Services) highly without a doubt!"

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

Welding is the process of using extreme heat—and, sometimes, pressure—to attach two pieces of metal. In contrast, metal fabrication is a more involved process that can include welding, sheet metal work, bending, and other forms of metal manipulation. Metal fabrication is a large-scale project that may or may not involve welding, while welding is more often a step in larger fabrication projects.

There are a few things you can ask welders before you hire them to get an idea of their experience and ability levels:

  • Are you licensed and certified?

  • How long have you been in the welding business?

  • Do you commonly do the type of welding I need?

  • Do you offer any kind of warranty for your work?

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • How long do you expect my welding project to take?

  • What steps do you take to minimize errors in your work?

The average cost for a welding project is about $300, with typical costs ranging from $125 to $490. However, prices can be as low as $125 for very small jobs or exceed $1,200 for large or complex projects. Welders typically charge an hourly rate between $65 and $150, depending on their experience, and many charge a minimum fee to cover overhead and travel expenses. The total cost is influenced by several factors, including labor, the cost of materials like metal rods and shielding gas, the type of metal being welded, the project's size and complexity, and your geographic location. For a precise quote, it's best to ask a local welder for an estimate based on your specific project.

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.

Yes, you can cut up a box spring., but you’ll need to do so in layers. You can clear the fabric and fluff away to reveal the springs before removing them as well.
