"Kim and Colorado Duct Cleaning were amazing! Kim was very punctual, professional, and friendly. He was very thorough in explaining what he was going to be doing, how long it would take, and any concerns that he might have with our house. While we had had our ducts cleaned five years earlier, Kim showed us how the other company had missed half the house and that there were ducts that he suspected hadn't been cleaned in 30 years. Most impressively, Kim noticed that a duct was open that should have been closed and we were blowing air into our crawl space, spending money to heat and cool a completely unused space and taking air pressure away from the rest of the house. He was able to close the duct for us and make our heating/cooling system much more efficient. Before leaving, he cleaned very thoroughly and explained what we should do to best maintain our newly clean ducts. My husband I felt it was money well spent. I can't say enough about Kim -- very highly recommended!"

House Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It‘s risky to pressure wash indoors, and we wouldn’t recommend it, but following all safety guidelines can prevent the worst outcomes. Always make sure to use an electric-powered machine over one that’s gas-powered, remove obstacles that could cause tripping or falling, and keep appliances like hair dryers and toothbrushes unplugged and out of the way to prevent electrical hazards.

Most people perform the bulk of their household cleaning tasks once a week. Since a whole-home, top-to-bottom weekly cleaning can take up a significant chunk of time, break weekly tasks up by day so you don’t have to lose your whole weekend to cleaning and maintaining your house. Many people also find the cost of a house cleaner to be worth it to help keep their home clean if it’s hard to find the time themselves.

While a biohazard cleanup sounds like a scary process, knowing what to expect can help ease your concerns and set you up for success. It’s good to note that more than one professional might be needed depending on your situation, but that will be determined during the assessment. What you can expect during a home biohazard cleanup is the following:

  • Assessment: The first step in this process is for a biohazard cleanup professional to assess the damage. They create a report that includes the biohazard safety level, the needed damage cleanup, and the time it should take to complete the project.

  • Setup: The cleanup professional prepares the site to prevent cross-contamination and reduce toxicity risk. This process can include tarping and creating decontamination zones.

  • Removal of surface contamination: Any contaminated materials are removed from the area, starting with large materials followed by small ones. The professional can assess any floor-related damage once everything is removed from the site.

  • Salvaging items: The biohazard cleanup professionals assess which items can be saved and which are contaminated beyond the point of saving. Those deemed unsafe will be disposed of immediately.

  • Waste disposal: The next step is carefully disposing of the hazardous waste. Your professional will place the contaminated items in specific containers to keep the contamination from spreading.

  • Disinfection: The house will be disinfected and odor-neutralized. Even more minor details, like light switches and bulbs, will be disinfected so that they do not recontaminate the area in the future.

  • Restoration: Once the decontamination is complete, the last step is to restore the home. This includes repairing the damage to flooring, walls, or even the home's foundation.

Yes, you will need to scrub every surface in your home after using a bug bomb to remove the chemical residue. You’ll need to scrub everything with soapy water at least two times, better yet three times, to enhance the protection of your furniture and other home items.

You should wash your sheets at least once every two weeks and as often as once every week to keep your sleeping environment healthy. If it’s hot out, or if you have a job where you might deposit dust onto your sheets from your work environment, you should wash your sheets more frequently.
