"The crew that came to do my work was very friendly and I felt very comfortable with them in my home... I had some painting done, and also some new shelving put into my bathroom and a couple of fixes around the house just after I bought my home... I love all of my paint and upgrades, and I would definitely use this service in the future as well. It's really fine work!"

"Tony did a wonderful job repairing and painting walls with very high cathedral ceilings. He did the bathroom, kitchen, and entrance hall in a day and a half for a very reasonable cost. The only issue I have is that I called the evening before he painted and told him I wanted to change the color for the front hall, and I still gave him a 4 1/2 because it is not a huge deal to me, but now I need to change the color of the inside of the door. Otherwise a beautiful job."

"We hire 614 Drywall to take care of our popcorn removal and re texture/paint the walls of a 1973 town home in Lakewood. They did an excellent job, work around the electrician’s schedule and patch the holes made by then. I am completely happy with Emilio, he is professional, knowledgeable and have a great customer service orientation. I recommend his company to whoever needs all type of drywall, paint and finishing work."

Customers say: True professional

"I hired Corey with Encompass for an interior painting project in my home, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results! From start to finish, the experience was seamless. Corey was professional, punctual, and incredibly detail-oriented. He took the time to understand my vision and offered valuable suggestions that enhanced the overall look of my space. The quality of the work is outstanding; the lines are crisp, and the colors are perfect. He ensured that everything was meticulously prepared before painting, protecting my furniture and floors, which I truly appreciated. What stood out the most was his commitment to cleanliness, everything was always left clean and tidy. I highly recommend Corey with Encompass to anyone looking for a skilled and trustworthy painter. "It is difficult to assess the quality since it is difficult to see it on the roof or using photos provided. There was a definite miscommunication between people in the company and contractors, but they have got in, finally and the job was done."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Painted decks typically require a new coat about once every ten years. In between new coats, it's best to maintain your deck by regularly removing debris, washing it down with non-abrasive cleaners, and staying ahead of structural issues, such as loose boards and rotting wood. In some cases, painting a small section of your deck affected by damage or the sun can lower your costs and workload.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

Eggshell and satin finishes are best for porches because they sit in the sweet spot between scuffable matte and distracting high gloss. Your porch sees a fair amount of wear and tear, so you don’t want paint that’ll show every mark like matte, but you don’t want to be blinded by glossy paint in the sun either. Eggshell and satin have durability and a look that sits nicely in the middle.
