"Matt does excellent work, is a true professional and an overall great guy! I'm a contractor and have worked with many carpenters and cabinet installers over the years. "Cesar and his guys were punctual and professional. They did a great job working with us on the design and build of our patio cover project which turned out exactly how we expected. We have already CMR to friends and neighbors and would use him again. CMR's price was extremely reasonable and much cheaper than other quotes we got. You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.

Removing a load-bearing wall is best handled by professionals. However, if you have the skill set and decide to DIY the project, you will still need at least one additional person to assist you. Aside from helping with demolition, you'll need another hand to install the new support beam.
