"Jenna was very knowledgeable & thorough in explaining my current skylight issues (never sealed properly) & what solutions & options are appropriate for my size skylights & warranties. Jonathan, David & Alejandro did an awesome installation, respectful of my property, meticulous in their work & went above & and beyond, in my opinion. Communication was always excellent throughout. Highly recommend."
The sunroom before replacement.
Existing acrylic dome skylight before replacement.
VELUX Sun Tunnels installed!
Our MAGS BAR system in place!
We apply new "ice and water seal" around the perimeter of the skylight, which does include removing shingles that can easily be re-installed. This allows for a water-proof seal.

"This is an amazing company to work with if you are in need of repairing or replacing skylights. William and his crew are very professional, polite, conscientious, timely. They took special care to cover anything inside the house that would get dust or debris from the install, and then made sure they cleaned up after the job was finished. William gave us a bid that was below other bids we had gotten, yet the quality of his product as well as the install by his crew rates up there with the best!! My husband and I couldn't be happier with the experience and HIGHLY recommend Skylight Magic for your skylight needs!!"

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, skylights can affect a home’s energy efficiency, either positively or negatively. Properly installed, energy-efficient skylights with Low-E coatings, double glazing, and UV-blocking glass can help regulate indoor temperatures and reduce heating and cooling costs. However, poorly insulated or older skylights can contribute to heat loss in winter and excess heat gain in summer, lowering overall energy efficiency.

While it is possible to install a skylight as a DIY project, it is not recommended. Skylights are the most likely type of window to leak due to their position on the roof. Even minor mistakes during installation can lead to significant water damage and high repair costs. Additionally, working on a roof is dangerous, especially when maneuvering heavy, bulky windows. Due to the required roof modifications and the need for proper sealing and structural safety, hiring a professional skylight installer is strongly advised to avoid costly long-term issues.

Local window and door specialists, glaziers, and roofers should all install skylights. You can also do an internet search to find companies that specialize in skylight installation near you. Keep in mind that skylight installation is very complex and can be dangerous without the proper tools and safety precautions, so we don’t recommend this as a DIY project.

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

Yes, flat roofs can make use of a skylight or window to allow natural light into the home. When finding the best skylight installer, it’s important to pick a professional with experience working with a flat roof. The installer must pick the right type of window design to match the slight slope of the roof.
