Customers say: Quick response

"We had such a great experience with Cliff! He was super communicative with our project and got it done easily - and well within our timeline. He clearly has years of experience and really knew the right steps to take to tackle our project. We had him strip wallpaper off of the walls of some of the rooms in our home because we didn’t have the time or know-how to do it ourselves. Cliff came in and worked on it for us and made sure to clean up his work area every day. I was so glad that we didn’t have to live around a bunch of materials or debris while a room was being worked on, because he was so good about making sure everything was super neat at the end of the day. He was really easy to work with, very easy to get ahold of when we needed to, and overall impressed us with the quality of his work. Highly recommend."

"Stellar's crew did a great job. I have some fairly old siding on my house and it needed a good coat of paint to protect it. They did a great job prepping the house, scraping any peeled paint, sealing all the joints, and using the peel bond where needed. The finish product came out great. Great coverage and clean lines. Would highly recommend them to anyone."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Both paint and wallpaper can work in a bathroom, provided you choose high-quality products in either category. Washable vinyl wallpapers can stand up to bathroom humidity without peeling, as can semi-gloss or gloss paint finishes. However, if you’re someone who likes to redecorate often, paint may make it easier to change colors or designs more quickly. If you want full humidity protection and cleanability, tile or stone works better.

When comparing peel-and-stick and traditional wallpaper, the better choice depends on your specific needs and space. Peel-and-stick wallpaper is more budget-friendly and easier to DIY install. On the other hand, traditional wallpaper lasts much longer and holds up better in a wider variety of spaces, including areas with moisture like kitchens and bathrooms.

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

In most cases, it is not recommended to wallpaper over existing wallpaper, as the success depends on the type of paper already on the wall. While you might be able to cover non-coated wallpaper, you should never apply new wallpaper over a vinyl-coated one, which is more common. Doing so can lead to poor adhesion, resulting in bubbles, imperfections, and peeling. It can also trap moisture, potentially causing hazardous mold growth between the layers.

Even if the existing wallpaper is suitable, experts recommend applying only one new layer. Adding multiple layers (more than two total) can cause significant adhesion problems, leading to warping and bubbling. For the best results, the recommended approach is to remove the old wallpaper and all paste residue before hanging the new paper. If you are unsure about your wallpaper type, consider consulting a professional.

Yes, you can put wallpaper in a bathroom, but whether it's a good idea depends on several factors. Because bathrooms are high-humidity areas, it's crucial to choose a water-resistant wallpaper, such as one made of vinyl. Proper wall preparation is also critical to ensure the paper adheres well, even after many steamy showers. The wallpaper's placement also affects its longevity; it will hold up better on an accent wall or away from direct water contact, rather than immediately next to a shower. A well-ventilated bathroom will yield the best results.
