"I highly recommend 5280 Snow Away. They showed up early, every time it snowed. And sometimes circled back on the same day if the snow continued. We have a 3 story condo building with exterior hallways and stairwells, so it was important for us to have a reliable snow removal company for our residents. They were also able to aid us with some landscaping projects. Such as removing some old large bushes and stumps, and planting new bushes."

"We used this team for our new paver patio. Tough location in a townhome development with a nasty cracked old cement patio to be removed. They made it all seem easy! The pavers they installed are perfect. All the crew was easy to deal with and worked so hard to get it right. From estimate to finished project everything was smooth!"

"We had to get a hole cut into the floor of our addition (including joists) months ago in order to get helical piers installed in the foundation. After reaching out to half a dozen floor repair people on this app and others who couldnâ t do it or flaked we finally reached Calvin who had no problems completing the project quickly and for a fair price. Weâ re pumped to finally have our addition back in working order and weâ re so glad we hired him and are already trying to think about how to get him and his brother Tyrone back out here for other projects."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

A common mistake is you can let snow melt naturally in a window well. However, snow buildup in the well can damage your window frames and walls. The melting snow also poses risks of water damage as it may leak through into the basement. It’s important to shovel snow out of your window wells before too much snow is piled in there.

The best way to save money on snow removal is to sign up for a seasonal contract that guarantees service throughout the entire winter. Most companies charge between $200 and $600 for this service, and they’ll often give you a break on the price if you extend annually. Of course, savings will depend on your area. If you live in a moderate climate where snowfall may or may not occur, you could pay more than you need during a light snow year. Still, it’s usually a safe bet to sign a seasonal contract.

There are several ways to remove snow from your roof: using a snow rake, salting the roof with calcium chloride, using a rope (cautiously), and using heating cables. It’s important to mention that pretty, fluffy, sparkling snow weighs a great deal, and when physically removing snow from a roof, you should be aware of large snow slabs breaking off. These can weigh hundreds of pounds and are a real danger, so be extremely careful anytime you’re doing this type of work.

While it’s less common than on other kinds of roofs, yes, ice dams can form on metal roofs. Metal roofs, particularly those with snow guards installed, can still accumulate ice at the roof edge, although ice dams on metal roofs are less likely to cause roof or interior damage than on traditional asphalt shingle roofs.
