"Sam replaced our 26 year old irrigation system that had been installed in a bare yard just after our home was built. Some of the lines had become pinched by tree roots and no longer functioned properly. He was great at explaining his approach and the materials heâ d be using and was very open to considering some of our ideas for different areas of our property, especially the ones where we werenâ t quite sure if we wanted to grow flowers or vegetables. Sam installed a very flexible setup that we could easily adapt to water whatever we decided to plant. He also came back to give us a lesson on how to program the controller and download an app to our phones so we could check on the system even while we were on vacation! He assured us that he would be happy to come back and tweak the system so that everything is getting exactly the amount of water it needs to thrive. When the work was finished the yard looked just like it did before the digging started and Iâ m excited to see the plants start to bloom. I would highly recommend Glacier Irrigation, LLC to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, reasonably priced professional who takes pride in doing the job well. And theyâ re nice guys to boot!"

I am very happy to share that the service was completed in a timely, efficient, professional manner. Our customers were able to use the parking lot and sidewalks without any difficulty. Thank you Martin Snow Removal!!"

"I recently hired Andrew?s Lawn and Snow for snow removal services, and I am beyond impressed with the exceptional service they provided! From start to finish, the experience was seamless and stress-free. The team was punctual, arriving exactly when they said they would, and immediately got to work clearing my driveway and walkways. What stood out to me the most was their attention to detail. Not only did they clear the snow efficiently, but they also made sure to spread salt, preventing any ice buildup. The results were flawless?no more worrying about slippery patches or digging out from a snowstorm. Andrew?s Lawn and Snow made the entire process so convenient, and their customer service was top-notch. The crew was friendly, professional, and thorough, making sure everything was done to perfection. I highly recommend their snow removal services to anyone in need. They?re reliable, efficient, and truly take pride in their work!"

"After my Father's unexpected passing, my Mom has been left with all the house duties that her used to take care of for her. I decided to find a service to help for the winter with snow removal and I couldn't be happier with these guys. Every time it snows they come out to clear the snow automatically and they do a great job. I plan to have them help this summer with lawn mowing also."

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

Both rock salt and ice melt are naturally occurring salts. Rock salt is sodium chloride, which is the same as table salt. Ice melt products can be made from a combination of salts like magnesium chloride and calcium chloride or can be those salts alone.

Rock salt comes in large crystals, so it helps provide traction on icy surfaces, whereas ice melt products need to be mixed with sand to provide traction. Ice melt products work at lower temperatures than rock salt, so they might be a better choice if you have a harsh winter climate.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.

Roof raking helps clear snowfall from your roof and, in turn, you hope that this prevents ice dams. But can roof raking actually cause them? Generally, no, it cannot. But you should note that while, in some cases, you might successfully prevent ice dams from forming near the edge of your roof by keeping it cleared with a roof rake, they could still form higher up on the roof, where you are unable to reach. This may leave you wondering: Does roof raking prevent ice dams? While it is not a 100% guaranteed way to prevent them, it does help.

A common mistake is you can let snow melt naturally in a window well. However, snow buildup in the well can damage your window frames and walls. The melting snow also poses risks of water damage as it may leak through into the basement. It’s important to shovel snow out of your window wells before too much snow is piled in there.

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Very hot water can quickly melt ice and remove it, which is helpful if you’re very short on time and need a solution ASAP. However, it will only work across a small area, after which there’s a chance the water will freeze again. The sudden clash of temperatures is dangerous for fragile materials, notably windows and other glass, so you’ll want to keep the water away from your car.
