"Cliff came in on a Saturday and removed 3 walls of wallpaper. He did a great job with that and we hired him to paint the upper level interior of the house. Again a great job at a fair price. Cliff is a true painting professional and it shows in his work. I'll definitely call Cliff for future painting projects."

"Jose did a wonderful job on painting the inside of our rental house. We had some time constraints and he happily worked around them. He prepped carefully and did a great job painting both by hand and with a spray machine. He is an excellent communicator with fair prices and my favorite thing was he showed up on time and ready to work! Hire Jose!"

"We were referred to Painting Plus from a friend who had a great experience. They just finished painting the interior of our new home, and did a fantastic job. There were on time for the quote, followed up quickly, started up the day after we provided the paint colors, and kept coming back until the job was finished. During the work, they were very careful about covering floors and furniture, and the finished product looked great. We would highly recommend."

"I used them to paint the exterior of my home and garage. Then used them to paint a most of the interior. I am now having them give me a quote for an additional room. Chris is so good with communication and returning my calls. Would definitely recommend Peak Pro Painting."

"We had a great experience working with Candace and Gio for our exterior paint job. The crew did a great job painting and worked around the weather as it rained almost every day. I would definitely hire them again!"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

Professional painters often use a Turpentine-based solution to remove paint, since it can remove oil-based paint as well as acrylics and varnishes. It’s also an organic material derived from tree resin, so it’s less toxic than traditional paint strippers. Consult a professional cabinet refinisher or painter about the best materials to use for paint stripping.

There are times when you should remove all exterior paint before repainting. This includes when you need to get rid of lead-based paint (which should be done by a pro), or if you need to apply a different finish than what’s already there. Your house may also have too many pre-existing layers of old paint, in which case you’ll be better off getting rid of the old layers first.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

You can remove powder coating with a chemical stripper, in a burn-off oven, or by sandblasting. Chemical strippers can remove most powder coatings in 20 minutes or less. But they are harsh and must be treated with care.
