"I hired this company to build a new deck in the beginning of July. It is now the middle of September and my deck is still not finished. While the time frame is not completely their fault due to material delivery they wouldn’t show up for days at a time when material was available to work with. There were times they would show up and only stay for a couple hours. The whole process was a nightmare. Their lack of quality shows in all areas of the deck. I drafted the plans myself and they were approved by the building department. I provided them with copies of the plans. They messed up 4 of the 5 concrete piers because they measured them wrong. Instead of redoing them. They poured square pads over them that were only poured on the surface for three of them. One of the outside piers was supposed to be 10 inches. They messed up the measurement then poured a 16 inch pier over it that is approximately 1.5 ft above ground. They also cut a sprinkler line that went through the pier instead of pouring over it like I explained to them. I had to replace one piece of siding that met with the deck. I bought matching siding to replace it. The workers broke the siding while moving it. They bought new siding that was cheaper and did not match the existing siding. They additional broke off another small piece of siding that was not fixed. They left material all throughout my yard for weeks, leading to my grass dying and my sprinklers unable to work because they were covered up. Nails and screws were everywhere until I picked them up. The posts were cut short for the railing, so they nailed pieces of extensions on top of the posts. They messed up fastener spots for the rails leaving holes in the railing. They originally used screws for the framing. They had to be replaced with nails even telling them before they started nails had to be used and it was in the plans from the building department as well. They used facia board for the steps until I explained to them what the facia boards were for. Leading me to be short on facia boards for the rest of the deck. They also started the deck flooring using a facia board, realized the mistake and replaced. But at that point the facia board could not be used elsewhere as it was notched for posts. I bought flashing for the ledger that was never used. When I questioned them about it he stated the siding and ledger were already put on. The quality of work was below average at best. They cut corners and I found it very concerning I had to explain to them parts of building a deck."

With over fifteen years of experience in various interior renovations, I take pride in producing clean, strong, appealing finished work that is always level and square. Clients appreciate that I am on the job every day until it is finished, as I only do one job at a time. My estimates are firm, with no price increases unless additional work is requested. My clients have all been very pleased and I'm happy to give you referrals. Let them tell you how I do. "A passion for precision"--that's my motto.

"Dylan is a gem! He responded promptly to my request for a quote, followed through with consistent communication, and was a pleasure to work with. He repaired a granite kitchen countertop and did so in the cleanest way possible by keeping his vacuum host taped to the location where he was grinding down the edges of our counter. He also showed up on time, went and purchased an additional item to shine the new edge of our countertop, and cleaned up after himself. I will definitely use him again!"

Fire Sprinkler Companies questions, answered by experts

To map your sprinkler system, sketch a rough blueprint of your yard, noting features such as fences, trees, and driveways. Keeping the coverage area of your sprinkler heads in mind, plot them on your map, making sure to space them so that there’s a bit of overlap (this keeps dry patches at bay). Some companies provide design services that will help you account for your particular water flow and pressure needs so that the farthest sprinklers still have enough pressure to do the job.

The 30/30 rule for drip irrigation is the guideline that a single watering zone should not exceed a run length of 30 feet and a flow rate of 30 gallons per hour. The guideline is for 1/4-inch tubing only. By staying within the 30/30 rule, you ensure consistent water flow and distribution. Some experts even recommend keeping runs under 20 feet long.

Daily for the first two weeks, then gradually tapering as roots establish.

Residential fire sprinkler systems have a couple of drawbacks, including the cost to install, particularly for high-rise buildings or existing buildings, and the potential for water damage if the sprinklers go off. You will also need to keep up with annual inspections to make sure the system will work as intended during an emergency.

But keep in mind that sprinklers can save lives, and the cost to repair water damage (about $400 to $4,700) is less than the average cost of fire damage restoration (about $3,200 to $51,600).

Like other irrigation systems, there are pros and cons to drip irrigation. On the plus side, drip irrigation saves more water than a traditional garden hose or sprinkler. Plus, it’s convenient and helps prevent plant disease and soil erosion. However, if you’re accustomed to using a hose or manual sprinkler to water your lawn, the cost of installing a drip irrigation system could be tough to swallow. You’ll also need to complete regular maintenance on the system to keep it running properly.
