"Jessie was a true professional. He arrived on time, got us our quote within the day. Followed up to see if we had questions in a timely manner. Jessie had all his samples with him and a catalog to pick our sinks from. No pressure to sign a contract ever. He was understanding we needed time to decide. Treated my wife with respect (other sales people directed questions to me and not her, they made her feel invisible). Jessie’s prices were fair and reasonable, so we decided to go with him. The installation took a day and everything was as promised. He was careful and respectful of our space and time. Thank you Jessie for the excellent job and the beautiful countertops. He also made us two cutting boards at no extra charge."

"Josue and Jaime did an excellent job restoring my deck. The job had been incorrectly evaluated by two other builders for an exorbitant price. J5M Builders correctly estimated the problem and got the work done efficiently and at an affordable price. They even hauled off trash that had been stored under the deck and everything was clean and beautiful when they finished. I highly recommend J5M Builders for big or smaller construction jobs and repairs."

"We worked with Jorge, the owner of Lion Stone Works, to install countertops in our kitchen in the Fall of 2018, and it was a pleasure. Jorge is a true professional: he knows his stuff, he responds to phone calls and emails quickly, he has good sources for quartz, and he does a great job. I had a few details I was focused on getting right, especially the flush reveal for an undermount sink. He listened and understood how important that was to me, and he worked with his guys to make sure it was done well. I'm also persnickety about caulking, and he did a fantastic, precise caulking job! On this kitchen, did something different from a typical install - we put Schluter where the countertop meets the drywall - and after looking at the pros and cons, Jorge was game to make it work. It looks fantastic, and I couldn't be happier. Thanks Jorge and Lion Stone Works!"

"Without a hesitation if you're thinking about granite for anywhere, contact Alee at Colorado Stone & Granite. She was wonderful to work with. I found a granite that I absolutely loved (the price was a budget-buster) and she found one that was perfect (and within budget). Everything from the measuring to the installation and everything in between was an awesome experience. It's absolutely beautiful. We have many more projects in the future and I wouldn't consider using anyone but Colorado Stone & Granite."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Silestone® is a brand of quartz countertops; one isn’t necessarily better, but they have their differences. Silestone® costs slightly more than the average quartz countertop because you’re paying for the brand name and unique features. For example, Silestone® is often more sustainable than regular quartz because you can purchase varieties made with recycled materials. It also has antibacterial properties and design options some homeowners prefer. Plus, you can use it across your whole kitchen rather than solely for countertops.

Yes, updating your countertops can increase your home's resale value. High-quality, stylish countertops play a significant role in a property's overall appeal and can attract potential buyers. The impact is greatest when replacing outdated, chipped, or stained countertops, or when upgrading from a low-end material like laminate to a high-end, durable one such as granite, quartz, or other natural stone. While you may not recoup the entire cost, investing in attractive, durable countertops is a smart move, as kitchen and bathroom updates often have the most significant impact on a buyer's opinion. For the best results, ensure they are professionally installed.

Using water when cutting stone drastically reduces the amount of dust that comes off the stone. It’s beneficial to cut down on the amount of dust for respiratory and other safety reasons, such as keeping your vision clear while using an electric tool. Even with protective eyewear, the dust can still cloud your safety glasses. You should always wear protective gear when cutting stone.

Installing new kitchen countertops costs $1,850 to $4,450, with an average price of $3,140. Some materials, like marble and granite, are more expensive than others. Additionally, the size of the countertop impacts the overall price. Labor accounts for 10% to 20% of the overall project cost. Add-ons, like edging and corner treatments, also increase the cost.

Yes, you can generally put hot pans directly on a granite countertop without worrying about cracking, as it is a durable, heat-resistant stone that can withstand high temperatures. However, it is still highly recommended to use a trivet or hot pad as a precaution. Prolonged or repeated exposure to high heat can potentially cause discoloration or damage the countertop's sealant, making it more susceptible to staining. Additionally, the heat from a pan can transfer to the granite, creating a burn hazard for anyone who touches the surface shortly after.
