"Shawn was at my home to install two doors. Everything went fine so I asked for a bid on replacing the underneath of my patio cover from vinyl to osb soffit material. He showed up late both days, raised the bid $375 right after he arrived, telling me he measured wrong. (First clue, measured wrong? Is that my fault) He then added for painting which we had already discussed. He demoed the vinyl, leaving a strip around the edge. I asked what he was doing and he said he was putting the board in the vinyl strip. Would you not ask the homeowner first. If I’m eliminating vinyl, would I want the board placed in the old vinyl strip? I have two small dogs. I asked them to keep the nails picked up and MAKE SURE TO LATCH THE GATE! Thank God I shut the doggie door!! I went outside and they were nailing away and the gate was wide open. He ran out of spackle, used some I had and got mad when I told him I could not leave to go get some. I had another guy in the house bidding a project. I asked him why he wasn’t prepared with supplies. He loaded up his stuff and said “I can’t work for you!” He left my job unfinished. I paid him. Thank God my dogs didn’t get out!! I read a review about his stone work. Perhaps he should stick to that!"

You can seal a concrete slab by cleaning the surface, filling in any cracks, etching the surface, applying a sealer, and letting it dry. Concrete slabs don't typically need sealing, but you can use a topical concrete sealer if you notice signs of water damage. If you haven't already fixed the cause of the leak, then you'll want to repair the plumbing before you seal a concrete slab.

Yes, you can mudjack cracked concrete, but the cracks will need to be repaired once the concrete has been leveled. The best way to resurface a concrete porch is to clean and prep the surface, pour a layer of concrete on top, allow it to cure, then seal it. A concrete overlay provides a durable layer and enhances your porch's look. You can even choose a stamped overlay to make it look like stone or brick. A quarter-to-half-inch of self-leveling concrete on top of your existing floor will be sufficient for a smooth and even finish.

A layer of exposed aggregate concrete should be 1 to 2 inches thick if you’re installing it on top of existing concrete. If you’re pouring a new slab with the finish, slab thickness will depend on the application. Exposed aggregate concrete driveways should be 4 to 6 inches thick in most cases or 8 to 12 inches for commercial vehicles. Sidewalks, patios, and walkways should be 4 inches thick.
