"We had installed hardwood in half of our house and wanted a pro to finish the job. Matching old Bruce Hardwood with new was a challenge, as was blending all the rooms. Dan had an awesome idea to use transition wood between rooms so that we could run the hardwood in the same direction and make it look seamless. Our installer, T, was awesome. Very experienced and creative. He had to deal with rooms that weren't square, shifting floor heights, and weird heater vents. The transition boards were a challenge, but T worked with the size and color until we were all pleased with the result. We'd recommend Piche Building and Design for any project."

"It gives me great pleasure to write this review for Unison Builds LLC. Chris and his team handled the complete interior and exterior renovation of our 7,500 square feet office building. Their work included adding seven new offices, a gorgeous marble kitchen and dining room, a wonderful reception area, an executive conference room with a 14-foot table, the CEO's new office, and nearly everything else. He is a reliable builder. His team takes great pride in what they do. And the work proceeded even faster than we expected."

"Seth did a great job with our house. The project was incredibly fluid and complex. The site was also incredibly challenging logistically to get materials and contractors in and out of on a mountainside lot. He was able to adjust and pay attention to our needs throughout the entire scope and deliver a great end product. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to build or remodel a custom home in the mountains or anywhere along the front range"

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Buying a house is easier than building one from scratch. Buying an existing home is almost always faster, even if you need to make renovations once you move in. When you hire the right team to build a home, they will simplify the design and build phases so that there is little guesswork throughout the process, but building new construction will almost always take longer than buying an existing home.

Ultimately, a work warranty is only as reliable as the contractor you’ve hired. That’s why trust and reputation are such important factors, in addition to having a solid contract and confirming appropriate licensing, insurance, and bonding. When looking for a contractor, it’s a good idea to read online reviews and ratings to see what kind of experience past customers have had. Issues with your contractor can make for an unsatisfying renovation process, but a reliable contractor can make the process go as smoothly as possible.

An A-frame home can be cheaper to build than a traditional house, but that is not always a given. Prices can be fairly similar in some cases, depending on the location, design, and necessary site preparation. Costs for an A-frame typically run between $100 to $200 per square foot, which is comparable to the cost of a traditional home. The cost of an A-frame can come in under those numbers if you opt for a prefabricated kit.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

Ranch and colonial-style homes are often the most affordable to build. They have a common layout with available designs that are easy to adjust in simple ways without having to spend too much on a structural engineer or architect. Both types of homes' symmetry, simple roofs, and often one or two-story plans mean they often fall in the $150 to $200 square-foot range, putting them right around average.
