"Rene was prompt on arrival to start working on my yard. There was much to be done in both front and back, I needed both lawns mowed and edged. which needed much work. Had Rene remove all vegetation from front. In the back yard the ivy from neighboring yard was invading my yard. He cut all to top of my fence. I am very pleased with the work and the clean up. He will now do lawn, edging and weed maintance every two weeks. If you want a hard working young man I recommend calling him, Price is very reasonable."

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

Yes, tree roots can regenerate after they’re pruned or cut. In fact, trimming can stimulate new growth, especially in healthy trees. The tree’s roots can still grow back even after a tree is cut down, (and learning how to get rid of regrowing tree roots is a separate feat). Still, if you don’t wish to harm a tree, pruning the roots should be done with extreme care, and ideally by a professional.

Unless there’s some sort of rule in your community’s homeowners’ association that requires you to remove a stump, there’s no law that says you have to take it out. If you’re not wedded to the idea of removing it, there are plenty of ways to get creative with this tree remnant. Using the stump as the medium for a wood carving or turning it into a planter are just two examples of ways to repurpose a tree stump.

If a disease has attacked and destroyed the roots, then the tree may fall over as soon as it has died or while part of it is still alive. Trees that die with their roots left in place tend to stay standing for much longer, but those roots will decay eventually, allowing gravity to do the rest.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.
