"After speaking with Kevin (CEO) about the merits of the One Water System, and my own online followup, I bit, and was scheduled for installation 5 days later. Juan, the installer was on time, courteous, self-effacing, humorous, knowledgable and highly skilled. He replaced the ugly functioning plumbing (piping) with a more contoured professional appearance. After the system instalation, function test, old water softener packed and area cleaned. I was given an outline of positives results to look for.  And, as of 2 weeks after installation, I am very pleased with results. Faucet run faster, wife says hair and skin feels better. Good professional results from beginning to end.

"On his way, he got hung up on traffic, but he called me, which I appreciated. I was pretty pleased with what he did. I worked with Billy and he did well. He couldn't go in through the sink, so he went on the roof to get through that way. The job took him about a half hour to finish."

"I called and setup an appointment for the afternoon.  The dispatcher called back in an hour saying the plumber was free earlier and came immediately.  He was there within an hour and gave me an estimate for the replacement and upgrade that I wanted.  I agreed to the price and within 3 hours I had a new water heater.  I can?t imagine where they could have done any better.

"Frustrating. I called for the toilet tuneup at the end of September. Did not show up because of truck accident. The plumber did show up for his appointment and did a good job on my toilet. I decided to get a quotation on my shower leak in rear house. The plumber quoted $180.00. I needed to pay extra money for a shower valve. At the side of the house, there was a water leak in which he stopped. The plumber got sick and I had to deal with a subsitute plumber. He finally finished the job 10/26/17. Gave me a deduction for my frustration."

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

No, hard water isn’t dangerous. The added calcium in hard water can contribute to good bone health. However, it can also cause dry skin and hair. If you have dry skin or hair, consider using a water-softening system to help minimize the minerals in your water. Plus, these systems can also add some sodium to your diet.

The main difference between a water softener and a water filter is what they remove from the water. A water softener is specifically designed to remove hard minerals, while a filter removes a wider range of contaminants above a certain size, such as bacteria and other impurities. If your primary goal is to remove minerals, a softener is the best choice. If you want to remove various contaminants for safety or taste, a filter is more suitable. Filters are also typically less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply's specific issues, you may need to install both systems for comprehensive treatment.

Water softeners have many benefits. The most important one is converting previously hard water—water with too many minerals—to more usable, easier water. When we say easier water, we mean water that’s easier to digest, less harsh on skin and clothes, and builds up less in the water system. Softer water may lead to lower energy costs and will extend the lifespan of all appliances that use water.

You can install a water softener system by turning off the water supply, draining the water, and then connecting your device to the waterline. Next, you’ll fill your tank with the recommended amount of salt or brine (whichever your unit calls for; be sure to read the instructions). Turn the water supply on and check for leaks. You can opt to let your water run for a few minutes, then test it using strips.

The process of inspecting your water softener system is similar.

Some shower water softeners are effective, but this isn’t always the case. Most shower filters only filter out chlorine, not hard minerals like calcium. Other shower filters can't handle the demand in homes with very hard water. It's also important to change the filters on your shower filters. Failure to regularly swap out old filters will make the filter ineffective over time.
