"Our kitchen remodel with McCormick Home Builders went beyond our expectations. Leoni and her team took the time to understand exactly what we wanted. The open layout design changed the way we use the space, and it’s been perfect for family gatherings. They were prompt, courteous, and genuinely invested in making sure we were happy. "We needed a new kitchen, since ours was seriously out dated. We have some ideas of what we wanted, but was hoping for some professional input. We hired Eli with Cal Green to do the job and had hoped we made the right decision. In the end we did. Eli was very knowledgeable, patient, and caring. He made the process go very smoothly and handled all the permits and dealings with the city, which was a relief for us. He took our ideas and included some of his and the kitchen came out great we are very pleased with everything. I would recommend Eli for any work you're considering for your home. For our next project we will definitely be using Eli and Cal green remodeling. Thank you so much Eli for a wonderful experience."

"We were looking for a contractor to completely remodel our one bedroom condo in San Francisco. We met with few different companies but after meeting with Moses from HomeTech Construction & Design, he gave us great suggestions that showed us his experiences. He was also very clear with the cost and what his included and what is not. They were able to work with our budget as it was very important also they provided 100% financing for no additional cost. They helped us pull all the necessary permits as well as made sure everything is done by legal expectations. Project was finishes at least two weeks earlier then predicted and the apartment rented even before all work was done. We and new tenants were really pleased with the finishes, design and quality of work. We especially really like the bathroom finishes. It was very easy communicate with the designer, office, contractor, and of course Moses, the project manager. Also the communication between the team was very well coordinated. We would definitely recommend HomeTech to everyone looking to remodel their home."

"I cannot say enough good things about Ecostar Remodeling. They handled a major home renovation for us, including new flooring, painting, and updating our living room layout. "I hired Landmark construction & energy crew for a 650 sq/ft. of living room addition. Before we hired them, we already had all the necessary plans on hand including all the secured building permits with the city. When it comes to workmanship and speed, I must admit that landmark construction was very fast while investing extra attention to perfection. All the teams of workers worked fast even when it came to fixes and adjustments. They replaced the wood floor with new engineered wood flooring, repainted the entire ceiling and one living room wall and blended new stucco on the exterior wall. The new addition required new foundation, framing, and window installation. We are thoroughly content with all the work that was completed by landmark construction & energy crew. 1) they made sure to cover everything all around the working area in order to prevent damages and extra work due to paint spots and dust from all the sanding. 2) They came to work on a daily basis and few times they skipped work BUT they made sure to confirm that 2 days ahead. This was very responsible from them to do. 3) Charlie the Project Manager was available and reached all the time. When he couldn’t talk or answered, he called within the hour. In regards to pricing… the price that we got from Landmark construction & energy crew was in the middle range. Charlie came over to the house several times to discuss about the details and the process of the project, and after that he start working on the estimate."

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Modular homes last an average of between 50 and 75 years, and high-quality modular homes can last for 100 years with proper maintenance. For comparison, a standard home lasts 50 to 100 years and can push to 150 or longer with good maintenance. Modular homes provide better long-term value in that they are significantly more affordable and can last almost as long, but some buyers are wary of modular home longevity, so the actual value if you sell could be lower.

Whether a prefab home is worth it or not will depend on your personal needs and preferences. Overall, prefab homes tend to cost less than traditional homes, although they also tend to have lower resale values. Another thing to consider is that prefab homes usually last 50 to 60 years or longer, while traditional homes last 50 to 100 years or more.

No, a structural engineer is not the same as a builder. A structural engineer is an expert in all things related to the structural integrity of a building. The structural engineer is responsible for calculating the correct materials in terms of load-bearing capacity and overall structural safety. Structural engineers do not perform the actual building of the house or other structures. Rather, the builder executes the plans and designs specified by the structural engineer.

Craftsman-style homes are predominantly found in the Western United States, specifically in Southern California, where the style originated. Since the climate was mild and there was access to plenty of natural resources, Southern California became a hub for this style at its inception. That being said, if you consult with an architect near you, you can have a Craftsman-style home anywhere.

In most states, you can build an in-law suite on your property as long as you follow local building codes. However, it's important that you have enough space on your property to accommodate the new structure. A functional in-law suite in your backyard will require between 300 and 800 square feet of space.
