"It went well.  Tyler was very knowledgeable about various critters' prints he found on my property. He had good suggestions for deterring predators ... but was not helpful in implementing those measures.  No references or anything.  I still have yet to find someone to install the kind of fencing he suggested.

"GoodFellas was quick to call and schedule an appointment for a free quote. Mike showed up on time and was more that willing to work with us on pricing. Their customer service is fantastic. Marissa was great at following up and always willing to help. Although we did not use their services this time, we would definitely call them in the future."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

To dispose of a dead iguana in Florida, first learn your local regulations. Litter laws may subject disposal in roads or bodies of water to a fine or jail time. Some towns restrict animal carcasses in trash bins. Instead, consider burial or cremation to get rid of an iguana. You may be able to dispose of iguana carcasses with a local animal control company, vet, or pet cemetery for a fee.

The nine-banded armadillo is common in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and Mississippi. Their range has expanded over the years, and they now live as far north as Missouri, Kansas, and even southern parts of Nebraska.

The time of day that most snakes are active is at night. This is when they prefer to hunt since they can do so under the cover of darkness, out of sight of predators and the prey they stalk. However, some snake species prefer very hot temperatures and are strictly active during the day.

If the cat is stray (you noticed a collar or other signs of domestication), the kind thing to do is to try and find the owner. Call around to other neighbors to see if they can lead you in the right direction. If you can get close enough to snap a picture, try posting an image of the cat to local community groups and pages on social media.

If the cat is feral, you can try to humanely trap them and participate in a local shelter’s TNR program. Before attempting capture, call around to local rescues and shelters to make sure one near you does participate in a TNR program. They may even be able to catch the cat for you.

It can be difficult to know what type of animal is in your attic until you see it. But several clues can help you narrow down the suspects:

  • Sounds: Smaller animals like rats and mice make scurrying and tapping/gnawing sounds. Larger animals like raccoons and opossums make louder clambering noises. Also, note when animals are noisy: Squirrels are active during the day, while rats are busiest at night.

  • Droppings: Rats and mice leave small, rice-shaped droppings (the rat’s version is significantly larger). Bigger droppings belong to larger critters like raccoons. As long as you’re not squeamish, an image search can help you identify what you’re seeing in your attic.

When in doubt, take photos of damage or other evidence and show them to an experienced pest control pro.
