"Adam did an incredible job installing porcelain tile backsplash in our kitchen; he is professional, timely, organized, and maintained great communication throughout the project. He took time to properly address my concerns, mask, and prep my home none of my cabinets or flooring were stained. His care and attention to detail are second to none! I highly recommend AK Tile for your next project."

"This project was to finish install of a new shower replacing former nasty tub. Derek's crew were excellent technicians, and I am confident we now have a high quality, nice looking shower. The work involved a lot of detail/bullnose around 2 windows and 3 niches, beautifully mitered corners. Also, a pebble tile floor was hand placed so the pebbles were level to each other leaving no low spots to puddle, a detail I hadn't expected. The same crew also installed a glass block wall which had a slight hiccup during the job; they came back at the end of the day and worked late to fix it and make it right."

"Olmer communicated very well throughout the project and is very professional. The job was delayed twice as a result of the tile company we selected not meeting its delivery commitment, but Olmer rescheduled with me both times to complete the job quickly. The price was fair (not cheap) and the work is excellent. I would definitely hire Olmer again for the next tile project."

"We first hired Mark to tile our fireplace. We were so impressed with his work that we hired him to tile our kitchen and it looks amazing! Mark is a professional and itâ s clear heâ s been doing this for a long time. He is very precise. He uses techniques that produce an even, clean and crisp look every time. The cherry on top is that Mark is a good and honest dude, heâ s easy to work with, and his prices are fair. If you need a tile guy, look no further than MK Tile & Stone. ~Shout out to Ed Henicle for teaming up with Mark on our kitchen project~"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.

While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.

You can often find many types of peel and stick tile at big-box home improvement stores. Other places to shop for this type of material include home decor websites, other types of big-box stores, and even directly from the manufacturer. It’s a good idea to order a tile sample first to see how you like the look and feel before installing it.

Glass tile is one of the easiest materials to maintain. It is both stain and water-resistant, making it easy to clean and incredibly durable. This also makes it resistant to mold and mildew. However, make sure it’s kept clean, otherwise, your grout might start to degrade. Glass is liable to scratch, so ensure you’re using non-abrasive materials and products, like soft sponges and wipes.
