"Future consumers beware: this company is dishonest and CAN NOT/SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED. We hired Tico's pool service through a recommendation. We trusted their knowledge and professionalism to handle our newly re plastered pool. Unfortunately there was an issue with the filter, the grids were broken. The technician recommended we purchase a new filter at great expense. We also noticed the pool was not getting clean and the water remained murky. Feeling like we were getting hustled we hired another pool servicing company to come and take a look. They found a broken back wash pump, and broken grids inside our filter. Johanna very curtly told us they would not hold themselves accountable for any of the issues and went on to tell my husband that if the grids really were broken the technician would not have put them back in the filter. She also told my husband the technician had shown him the dismantled filter and all its parts, which was incorrect. The technician showed my husband the filter after he had assembled it and out it back in the container. Johanna sent us pictures of the grids but three of them were flipped upside down. Those three grids were the ones that were broken."

Most hot tub motors can last between five and 10 years; however, hot tub motors can burn out sooner if the hot tub water is not maintained or if the motors themselves are not maintained or protected from the elements. Since hot tub motors (also referred to as spa pumps) power the jets and circulate the water, they are important for the functioning of your spa. Buying a quality motor, keeping the hot tub filter clean, and keeping the wet end of the motor wet and the dry end dry can help them last longer.

Where you drain a hot tub largely depends on local regulations, but you must not drain chemically treated water where it can damage the environment. Direct the water toward a sanitary sewer drain that will take it to a treatment facility. If your lawn has a dedicated drainage area that’s free from plants and foundations, you can likely drain it there. Avoid storm drains, as the hot tub water will enter waterways and could hurt aquatic life. Likewise, do not pour it out directly on any public land or where it can get into your neighbors’ property. 

You’ll know you need to replace the pump in your hot tub if you hear loud or unusual noises when the machine is running or notice a significant decrease in water pressure. A leak or altogether failure of the hot tub may also indicate a problem with the pump, but you’ll need a professional to investigate the source of the issue.
