We are a Non-Profit here in SLO county aimed at helping homeowners, and some renters, that may be in a difficult space and need help around their homes. Some are unable to do it themselves or afford to have someone come out and do it for them. Our focus is on a demographic of elderly on a fixed income, people going through a sudden and unexpected disability or life changing event, etc. Sometimes a little help is needed to make a home safer, more accessible, habitable, or even more comfortable and homier with some added curb appeal.

Professional brush removal, land clearing and mastication services. Remove unwanted fuel from grass, manzanita, scrub oak brush, poison oak and small trees. No piles for burning, all material is mulched and masticated back into the top soil. Ideal for farming preparation, fuel breaks and building pad prep.

"We hired SLOmow for mastication work before fire season on our 20 acre property on a steep hill in N. County. We were very pleased with the operator who drove up with some serious heavy equipment to masticate and remove dead almond trees, brush, removal of dead tree stumps. I also needed to relocate a 15 year old fruitless mulberry tree, and push back 10+ ft. of the mountain side to create a larger backyard space. I was confident in leaving the operator as I ran errands and when I returned, I was impressed with the amount of work that he completely in such a short amount of time. He is truly a hard worker and skilled operator with years of trusted experience. I recommend Robert and SLOmow for all of your mastication and contractor needs. (805) 439.0911"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

If you’re hiring a company to perform stump grinding—or any home service for that matter—you’ll want them to at least have general liability insurance and worker’s compensation insurance. This type of coverage protects both you and the business in the case of any accidents. Professional liability insurance and inland marine insurance plans are also important for tree companies to have. Ask any pro you’re considering hiring about licenses and insurance coverage before booking the job.

A small, healthy tree growing close to your home isn’t usually a problem. However, it’s worth speaking to an arborist if you have a tree within 15 to 20 feet of your home that isn’t in such good health or is encroaching on your home’s perimeter. The last thing you want is branches burrowing their way under tiles, causing a roof leak.

The speed of your tree root removal process depends on a few different factors, including the size and type of tree. However, the fastest method of killing tree roots is applying chemical herbicide, which starts working quickly and efficiently. But this removal method has its drawbacks, such as having a negative effect on the surrounding vegetation and landscaping. Other options like rock salt and stump grinding work relatively quickly and cause less damage to your yard.

Bleach can potentially kill some types of delicate ornamental trees, but for the most part, it will only kill the foliage it comes in contact with. Applying bleach is not an effective method of killing a tree. A better option is to use an herbicide, which is a chemical compound designed to effectively kill a tree.

Stump removal costs an average of $400, and prices typically fluctuate between $200 and $600. The size of your tree stump is the most significant cost factor to consider, but the method of removal, the type of tree, and the stump’s location all play a role. Chemical rotting is the most affordable method, while stump grinding and manual removal are more expensive but significantly faster. Hardwood tree stumps will cost more to remove because they’re more challenging than other varieties, and close proximity to fences or your home can drive up the cost.
