Small jobs welcome

"The entire summer of 2021, I looked for someone to upgrade my small bathroom. I either didnâ t receive a call back or was canceled scheduling work to start. Upon receiving my request, Richard responded and started working on my project within days. He is absolutely awesome. Richard fabricated a granite counter top; installed a toilet, mirror, light fixture, and vessel sink; repaired drywall; repaired and painted cabinet and painted entire.bathroom. Heâ s punctual, his price was above reasonable, and his work is exceptionally good and neat. Each work day, he contacted me to let me know when enroute and when arriving at my home. I love this about him because most contractors would give you a range time only to show up late or not at all. He is my last stop for any project he can do. I will be hiring him for more projects in the near future. I recommend him to anyone looking for a honest person for your project! Sincerely, Sherry"

Window Screen Repair questions, answered by experts

The cost of a window repair varies significantly depending on which part is damaged. Here is a breakdown of common repairs and their estimated costs:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track repair: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware issues: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Window screen replacement: $140–$480

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

Some hardware or specialty window stores in your area may repair damaged screens, but it’s less time-consuming, more convenient, and potentially more affordable to hire a screen repair technician to come to your home to do the work on-site. The screen technician will have the tools and experience to get the work done the same day, and they can inspect other screens while there to help avoid repeat repair costs in the future.
