"Fred was amazing to work with, he works very hard to make sure he helps his customers, I am really impressed by the time and effort he put into the property inspection. I was able to make a decision on the property. It was worth it, I will do it again for another home inspection with Fred and will recommend to my friends and family."

"Jake and his wife were amazing to work with. Honestly, itâ s hard to find people you can trust when it comes to home repair or maintenance. Not only was Jake honest and knowledgeable, he was human. He never tried to sell me. He knew our problem, fixed the problem and took every care and kindness with my family. On the business end, I received a quote a day after our conversation and they scheduled right away. They worked with my schedule and finished up in an afternoon. The product works. Our home is built in the 50s and has horrible insulation. Some kind of moisture made our floors buckle and caused an invasion of mold. We had it on our walls, in our mattresses, and on every piece of furniture touching the ground. The exterior walls were slowly changing color. It became unbearable. We did our part and threw away everything that was now salvageable, but Jake came in and itâ s like having a new house. He rendered all of the mold inert and changed the entire feel of our home. It smelled toxic upon entry, and now it feels like home again. I highly recommend working with Pacific Pure. Specifically Jake and Family. It is a service and product you can certainly trust, in a field with plenty of untrustworthy players."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

If you are considering buying a home with a cesspool, you will need to weigh the potential costs and hassles. Your primary decision will be whether to maintain the existing system or replace it. Maintaining a cesspool involves ongoing expenses for services like aeration, pumping, and cleaning. Alternatively, you could dismantle the system and replace it with a modern septic tank or connect to a public sewage line, which involves significant upfront costs. It is also crucial to check local and state regulations, as some jurisdictions require that cesspools be replaced before a home can be sold. Ultimately, you must decide for yourself if the financial investment and effort are worth it for the property in question.

A home inspection typically takes between two and three hours, though the total time can range from 30 minutes to half a day. The exact duration depends on several factors, including the home's size, age, condition, and location. Other variables that can affect the timeline are the complexity of the layout, the accessibility of various components, the size of the surrounding grounds, the inspector's experience, and whether it is a full home inspection or a more limited structural inspection. For a more accurate time estimate, you can ask your potential home inspector to review the specifications of the home beforehand. You should receive the completed inspection report within one to four days of the inspection.

Homeowner’s insurance will usually cover damages caused by contractors, but it won’t cover repairs if a contractor does poor work. If a contractor completes a job and you’re unhappy with the results, your best option is to have a civil conversation with the contractor about the issues. Reputable professionals may be willing to address your concerns at no additional cost or work out another resolution.

Depending on your state, a home inspector may need a license. All states and the District of Columbia require home inspectors to undergo training. However, some states (such as New York, Texas, Washington, and Illinois) require state-issued licenses while others (including California, Colorado, Pennsylvania, and Virginia) do not.

Other professional certifications include the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) certification, the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) certification, and the National Home Inspector Examination. Inspectors can also receive certifications in specialized areas. These can include structural specialties, like chimneys, swimming pools, or septic systems, as well as specific issues like mold, pests, or radon gas. Whatever your situation, make sure your home inspector is certified to handle it.

Generally, you can tell if a home is bolted to the foundation by checking the foundation for plates. If you see that your foundational plates connect to wood or bolts protruding from them, this means that you have a bolted foundation. However, it's always wise to bring a home inspector in to confirm if your foundation is secure.
