I have been doing tile work in San Diego for 35 years. Mainly residential and custom homes. I am licensed bonded and carry two million dollars in liability insurance. "Never having used Angi's before, we were shocked to receive such an immediate response to our request for help in replacing some badly broken tiles in our kitchen. We listed the job on a Saturday night, got a call from John (JB Tile & Stone) on Sunday morning, and the following morning he was at our house to discuss what we needed done. Since we only had about a dozen replacement tiles (and they were no longer available if we needed more) we were understandably nervous but appreciated his honesty on the challenges of removing the broken ones without damaging the ones we needed to leave in place. Based on his obvious experience and the reviews we read from satisfied customers, we decided to go ahead with the project. Our confidence in his abilities was more than justified. The work took place over 3 mornings. He arrived early and did exactly what he said he was going to do each day, i.e. carefully removing the broken tiles and old adhesives, then setting the new ones in place and finally grouting the newly tiled areas. We could not be more pleased with the end result and consider ourselves lucky that John was the one who responded to our call for help."

"Following first instincts in kitchen remodeling, we went to the Home Depot Design Center….and, although their service was polite and well-organized, we had no idea of what it was we really wanted, and so left with the same lack of inspiration we had going in. Only by serendipity (making a fortunate discovery by accident) did I stop a Remodel Works contractor driving a company vehicle from a job site, and asked for his business card. We then stopped by their show room at 12147 Kirkham Rd in Poway. We found helpful staff there, and examples of everything needed for a remodel - including various displays making it a bit easier to reimagine changes to our kitchen. John De Luca, Kitchenaire Extraordinaire was our Project Manager- friendly, professional, and talented. John came to our house, studied with us what we wanted to keep, and what we wanted to change. He took measurements and photographs that day; then back to his office to apply 3D software. What had been a lack of inspiration on our part, he set to software. He never pushed any product brand or style, he simply explained pros and cons of alternatives. John later portrayed (on 3D software) what products we said we liked, and superimposed (in detail) everything into possible revisions. Once we put everything together we were no longer confused. We knew exactly what we wanted. We could see it. Our onsite Project Manager, Daniel, supervised everything and did an amazing job of coordinating the entire project. From demolition to final touch-ups, Remodel Works’ whole approach was collaborative, and they kept us informed every step of the way. "Everything seemed fine at first. The manager came in, discussed the project, and asked what we wanted done. From day one, however, I realized I would need to be present at all times because I quickly lost trust and confidence in the team. They showed up and left whenever they wanted, despite assuring us they could meet the agreed timeline. The workers were unfamiliar with the layout we requested, and the project exceeded the scheduled completion date. What should have taken three days ended up taking a full week, causing me to incur additional out-of-pocket expenses for lodging. I constantly had to direct the workers and monitor their work; otherwise, they would do things incorrectly or not as requested. To make matters worse, the manager later claimed they needed to charge extra for “leveling the floor,” which they presented as a major issue across the entire house—when in reality, it was a small area. Furniture was damaged, and dried cement was left on walls and blinds. On the final day, cleanup was assigned to a single worker—an older woman—who physically could not lift heavy trash bags filled with broken tiles or rugs. With no proper help, I stepped in and assisted her using my own cart, even though this should not have been my responsibility. To add insult to injury, while helping, I was rudely told by a driver that I was loading the trailer incorrectly and ordered to redo the work, which I refused. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a company. I expressed my dissatisfaction to the manager, who initially said he would reduce the cost, but then tried to increase the price above the original $7,000 agreement, citing the unnecessary “leveling” work."
