"Our existing HVAC systems (one package unit for downstairs and one split system upstairs) were failing us after 26 years of use. We knew it was time to replace both systems so we interviewed 5 local HVAC companies for quotes. Ray O. Cook rose to the top for a number of reasons: (1) their Comfort Consultant, Paul M., helped us to compare our 12-month actual costs from gas and electric statements, to show us the approximate cost we spent on heating and cooling our house. That was helpful to see that we didn't need the highest SEER/EER rated new equipment, but rather a mid-rate SEER rated equipment to still reap the financial benefit of upgrading our systems. This had been our assumption from the start but other companies were trying to sell us the premium, top-end systems with the much higher price tag.  We didn't need that nor could we afford that. Also, Paul did an airflow rate test to help gage how much tonnage of equipment our home needed. It was different than what the existing equipment was. (2) The two-day installation went smoothly. I was present the entire time, asking questions and reviewing the processes throughout the days. The lead installer was very experienced. He always took the time to thoroughly answer my many questions. On day two (the last day) of installation, the installers continued to work into the night in order to get the job done right. I never once felt that they were rushing to get the work done in the least amount of time. WARNING: I heard that some other HVAC companies pay their installer by the day (or project), which Ray O. Cook does not. It was a pleasure working with the installers and having them in our home. They were punctual, polite, efficient, hard-working and very knowledgeable. Our home was as clean as before they started. Now after using the system for a week, I can say we are very pleased with the entire outcome. We believe Ray O. Cook helped us select the right systems for our home, and installed it to the highest ACCA standards, using NATE certified (trained) installers. We are very pleased and would highly recommend Ray O. Cook.

"Matt was extremely helpful providing options to replace my existing water heater. He was very easy to talk with and responded back in a timely manner via text message and phone. The installation of the new water heater, circulation pump and new water line went well and I’m happy with the quality of work performed. I would recommend him to others."

"We've used them for 16 years between our two homes. The cost is very reasonable. We pay a service fee visit. If its not covered, let say when our dishwasher was replaced. We wanted a more expensive one so we paid the difference."

Dishwasher Installation questions, answered by experts

The most common reason for a smelly dishwasher is a dirty dishwasher filter. The filter is responsible for catching food while your machine is running to prevent clogs. Over time, that filter gets more and more filled with food particles. Cleaning your dishwasher filter monthly can keep the smell at bay.

You should avoid using a pressure washer on any surface or item that could be damaged by the high-pressure spray, as some materials are too delicate to withstand the force.

Key items and surfaces to avoid include:

  • Electrical Components: Never pressure wash electrical systems, as water can cause short-circuits and create a safety hazard. This includes utility meters, breaker boxes, electrical outlets, generators, and HVAC or air conditioner units.

  • Delicate and Fragile Materials: Fragile items can crack, shatter, or be stripped by the pressure. Avoid pressure washing windows, glass, light fixtures, shingled roofs (especially asphalt), and stucco.

  • Painted, Stained, or Sealed Surfaces: Unless your goal is to strip the finish, do not pressure wash painted surfaces, stained wood (like decks), or anything with a protective seal that could be stripped away. Be especially cautious with older surfaces that may contain lead paint.

  • Soft Woods and Certain Decking: Delicate surfaces like softwood, composite decking, and antique or wooden patio furniture can be etched or damaged. If you must wash wood, use a lower-powered pressure washer with a wide-angle nozzle to prevent damage.

  • Living Things: Never use a pressure washer on people, pets, or plants. The force can cause serious injury and will destroy landscaping.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

To extend the lifespan, clean filters regularly, run cleaning cycles with vinegar, avoid overloading, and check for leaks.

The only way to repair a dishwasher door hinge is to replace the broken or damaged hinge. To do this, you'll want to remove the old hinge, install a new one that fits your specific dishwasher model, and reattach the panel.
