"It is rare these days to find a great company with good values. This is one of those instances; I cannot say enough, good things about the professionalism of the employees at the office and those that showed up on site to install wall insulation. They showed up at the beginning of the two hour window, which was fantastic and explained everything with upfront pricing. We even asked for additional insulation and they were able to accommodate. Our home walls are now insulated and we even noticed a difference right away. From the time of arrival to completion they were nothing but exemplary. Thanks again for running an honest and professional team! Highly recommend to anyone out there looking to insulate your home!!! Notability, they were well below other companies on pricing too!!!"

"Attic Insulation Lab worked at my house adding insulation to the walls in the garage and covered them with drywall. Their price was within our budget and we heard good things about them as well. Eran and his team of 3 additional workers did the whole job and they worked each day till they finished it. The office personal were good too. They were very flex with us in regards to the work hours and days. We do recommend this company and mainly Eran."

"After talking with several attic clean out and insulation, wall insulation companies, I decided to go with Marathon Insulation. Johnathan was very helpful and professional, gave the best choices for my issues, without trying to upsell like some of the others. After getting the attic and walls insulated (with attic clean out) I can already feel the heat stay in the rooms much longer and the walls much less cold to the touch before. I highly recommend Marathon Insulation! They were always on time, delivered as promised, and cleaned up after."

"We had Insulation Nation (Dustin) come to our house to look at our attis insulation; our house was built in the late 70's and I had added more blown-in insulation many years ago. We decided on adding 8" of blown-in insulation to reduce our heating/cooling cost and to reduce the cycling of our HVAC system. They did a wonderful job of sealing any attic leaks, covers for our canned lighting fixtures, built a dam around our whole house fan, added baffles around our soffits, and added the insulation. Nicely done and a professional job. Would recommend using their service."

"After having a new air conditioning system installed, to replace an old inefficient one, we decided to make sure our attic had the correct insulation as well as the appropriate R-value. Since our home was built in the 1950's, the insulation throughout the attic was minimal. We hired Insulation Commandos to survey and provide us with the appropriate solution. The solution involved removal of the old insulation, cleaning the area, and installing the correct insulation based on our homes location. We now believe we can keep our energy costs down and provide less strain on our AC system. Great job team!"

"Joseph and his team were all so helpful and educated. My home was very hot upstairs even with the AC on. After E&E Insulation finished attic cleaning and installing R38 insulation I feel such a big difference in the temperature. The temperature stays the same throughout the whole home. I don’t have to have my AC blasting all day anymore. They saved me so much money on my energy bills. Thank you for everything!"

"Me and my husband live in a condo in Los Angeles. About 6 months ago the neighbors upstairs rented their condo. The new neighbors are a family with two kids who are very sweet, but like to wake up early and throw stuff on each other. (At least thatâ s what itâ s sounds likeâ ¦) we talked to a few different contractors, most have offered us to inject insulation to the ceiling. We tried it, as it was not expensive, but, this did almost nothing. My husband who has very light sleep kept waking up every day at 5, what made our life very difficult. We did some due diligence and realized we need a much serious approach. When we talked to Eli at ELM, we understood right away thisbis the right contractor for us. His level of knowledge exceeded everyone else's, and he was wiling to make everything as clear as possible for us. The price wasnâ t cheap, as the construction included demo, installation of many materials and even lowering the ceiling. The project took about 2 weeks and we could see the difference right away. We could barely hear any thing!! What a huge difference! The crew were cleaning after every day of work and were very professional. I highly recommend ELM (make sure Eli is meeting youâ ¦.) for every Sound Proofing project. Thank you Eli (and pedro!)"

"Stephan and his team were professional, on time, priced fair, protected the house well, and the removal of old/install of new attic insulation went very smooth. I requested they spread the work over 2 days in order to have electrical done in between, and they were able to accommodate that request. The electrician commented that they did a good job not disturbing existing electrical during the removal of old insulation. The result of the new insulation is a much more comfortable and efficient home. All in all, I would hire again, great job."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

Yes, a one-story house can have a load-bearing wall. The load-bearing walls in a single-story home are usually the exterior walls. If the house has a basement with exposed walls, the arrangement of the beams can help indicate what walls are load-bearing.

You should always hang drywall from the top down. Starting at the top makes it easier to create a straight, tight line between the ceiling and the wall. Any gaps that occur will be at the bottom, where they are easier to manage. You can either cut the bottom piece of drywall to fit the remaining space or cover the gap with baseboard trim. Additionally, starting at the top is physically easier, as you won't have to fit the top sheet into a tight space between the lower sheet and the ceiling, or try to balance the upper sheets on the lower ones while securing them.

Yes, drywall can hold a 50-pound TV. However, when mounting a TV, you’ll either need to attach it to wall studs or use drywall anchors. If you use anchors, make sure to buy a type that can hold at least 50 pounds. Molly bolts, threaded anchors, and toggle bolts are all good options. For extra support, you can also install a wall mounting plate with the anchors.

If you plan on heating your garage, you must install a vapor barrier when drywalling the garage. A vapor barrier protects your garage from frost and mold that can occur through condensation. If your garage is unheated, you don't need to install a vapor barrier. The only exception is if you regularly crank the heat in your car before getting in it. In this case, you may still want to install a vapor barrier, as your car can heat your garage.
