Look no further: you have found him in Tom Radu Construction. From our first telephone conversation, during which Tom listened carefully and asked pertinent clarifying questions about the nature of our project, through to the final clean up?Tom was a delight to work with. He showed up promptly each day and communicated regularly and clearly (in advance as well as in the moment) about all aspects of the project, including how the surrounding interior spaces of our home would be protected during the work, any possible changes to the schedule (they were few and slight), and our options regarding various details of the project. And being a craftsman with a love for and much experience working on older homes, Tom was prepared with thoughtful, practical and excellent solutions to the inevitable quirks in design and dimension, common in these older structures. So how did it all turn out? Even better than we could have hoped! Our built-in drawers (new 'boxes' but with the original, full-of-character front panels and pulls that we love) are now insulated and on gliders. And because we use them many times a day, enjoying the ease with which we can pull them all the way out?because of the quality of Tom's work (and his very fair and reasonable pricing), this project is among the most practical and thus most valued we have completed to date. In brief and at the risk of sounding presumptuous, we felt having Tom around was rather like having a family member in our home: someone with whom you are completely comfortable; someone you can trust. So when we are ready for other work, we will skip the long, frustrating search and go right back to Tom Radu. We think you should, too! Bill/Don suggesting building a pony wall on my staircase which would allow the new flooring installation to be much easier and flush from the wall to the new pony wall; plus it met my objective of creating an overall more contemporary look. Overall, the quality of the end project was fantastic - I couldn't be more pleased with the new banister. This was a rather expensive project for me, so I am VERY satisfied with the outcome. However, the two pieces of feedback that I shared with Jacob and Bill were: 1) punctuality of the workers. The project involved several parties for each phase of the project, and Jacob provided me with start time windows each day, plus names of the workers. Except for the stainers, everyone showed up after the start window (which in turn impacted my work day) and I had to call Bill or Jacob to see when the guys would actually be showing up. 2) Cleanliness (or, lack thereof) - if there was a "cleanliness" category above, I would have provided them with a C or D rating in this category. I understand that with woodwork and any remodel that there is an expected level of dust; however, it appeared to me that some of the workers made minimal effort to seal off my house to protect what they could, or did not attempt any sort of clean up when they were finished. It is pretty easy to seal-off the rest of my house from the stairway and it was apparent that this wasn't done or wasn't done well. I had a significant level of dust throughout my house (in places that I wouldn't have expected), which was the biggest challenge of the project. Additionally, I had new hardwood floors installed after the banister work was complete (a project which also lends to a lot of dust and dirt) and my house was significantly cleaner after the flooring project. Lastly, the drywall guy dumped the remnants of his work in my kitchen sink, which still had dishes in it, and did not bother to even rinse the sink - not good considering there was a garbage disposal there, too. To be clear, I am including these two areas of criticism for Jacob/Bill to ensure their workers get the feedback, as well as to provide full transparency to others who select So Cal Stairs. However at the end of the day, the quality of the project GREATLY outweighs these two feedback points and I consider them to be minor in the grand scheme of things. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend So Cal Stairs for high quality workmanship on my new banister. We couldn't be happier. The workmanship is outstanding. The unit fits perfectly in our space, floor to ceiling. (That's not easy, since our floor isn't perfectly flat.) It's 23 feet long, but he was able to put a pencil mark on the wall showing us exactly where it would end (we had to have an electrician move a light switch), and sure enough, it was spot on. Hank and his installer Anthony Lopez worked closely with us at every step. We bought our house 5 years ago, and it has some nice existing cabinetry and woodwork. Hank and Anthony helped us to design a bookcase and media center that would work esthetically with what we have already, and also meet all of our functional needs. They struck just the right balance of offering both practical and esthetic suggestions, but also listening and accommodating our needs and tastes. They drove from Inglewood to Pasadena with samples of shelves, cupboard doors, etc., to get our approval. We didn't get other estimates, so we can't compare his prices with others. This kind of workmanship is not cheap, but it was actually less than we were expecting. We would definitely recommend them to friends (unless we had a project we wanted them to do first!) All surfaces were then primed and finish coated. Two coats of stain on the balcony. Daily clean up was excellent and the crew were careful not to damage any garden plants with their ladders. No splatter or drippings. The crew obviously knew their craft, e.g., very straight cut lines on the woodwork. Mr. Song was always happy to answer any questions and explain procedures and choices being made. Got an Angie's List $100 discount on the job, too. Very happy with the work. The owner, Mr. Lee, came within a half-hour of being called to give an estimate. He had a binder of previous jobs and dozens of letter of recommendation (some of whom I knew). We went over the job in detail. Brad was very clear in saying that his painters would prepare the surfaces thoroughly and sand down and fill in all areas where needed. Removing the multi-layers of old peeling paint from the porch was a special concern of mine. Brad assured me that it would be properly sanded, smoothed, caulked and painted. He also said that there would always be someone who spoke English in-charge. Sergio and Juan did the work. Sergio, who did speak English was there the 1st two days. I did not accept the \"finished job\" as surfaces had not been sanded down adequately. The paint was so thick on my front door that I couldn't close it, and several big areas not filled in. Juan came back a 4th and 5th day and ended up doing a lot of work over which he was clearly not happy about. Front door was done 3 times. They broke a sprinkler, which they replaced. Superficially the porch and woodwork look great, close up not so good."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/ca/pasadena/partnership-painting-inc-reviews-184760.htm"},"position":10}]}

"The team at Cabinet Refresh was terrific, from the original estimating process through the finished kitchen and family room cabinet painting project. This was a kitchen upgrade with all new, high-end appliances. I wanted to change the look and feel after 20 years and increase the home’s value. At all levels there was honesty, trust and great communication. Carol did the estimate and was welcoming in answering all my questions and providing suggestions when needed. She made me comfortable knowing that they could do all I was rfequesting, including making a custom panel for my new Sub Zero that matched my existing cabinetry. Armondo and Melvin were always on time, neat and with a can-do attitude when little things came up. It was a pleasure having them in my home. I would use that team again without question! And for the cabinetry work, there is nobody better than Julio. New door hinges installed to perfection, new pulls aligned the way they should be and a terrific mounting of the custom Sub Zero panels. Everyone loves the new look. For my next project Cabinet Refresh will be the only ones I call."

"I'm so happy that I found David at CA Cabinets! He was here checking on the work daily to make sure everything ran smoothly which is rare for a contractor as usually they just come a few times during the process. Everything is beautiful and he went to extra mile to shop with me for the flooring tiles, quartz countertops, cabinets and sink. I'm super picky as an artist / former fashion designer and he was able to help me create exactly what I had designed. He had great ideas such as adding a waterfall edge to the quartz countertop and a window sill piece from quartz as well. This project was a complete gut and rebuild due to a dishwasher leak - homeowner's insurance claim. I was having issues with my insurance and David went above and beyond to help me navigate the insurance issues so we could complete the project. He is always very prompt and organized. Some of the other contractors that I had previously contacted could not even be bothered to give me a call back or show up on time to a scheduled appointment but David was able to meet with me right away and always notified me of the work schedules. Pricing was reasonable and in line with other estimates I received."

The team at Gibin Remodeling believes we will never regret doing honest, good work. That’s how our family has done it for generations. FAQs for woodworking projects in Pasadena, CA
The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.
Hiring a woodworker can be expensive, depending on the job, but it’s very often well worth the investment. Woodworkers are able to provide custom pieces of furniture and handmade construction to present a finished product that is exactly to your specifications. If you have a specific vision for a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture or home feature, the cost of hiring a professional woodworker is worthwhile. Plus, you’ll often get a higher quality product than what you could buy in stores for a fraction of the price.
Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:
How long have you been in the woodworking industry?
What experience do you have with my type of project?
Do you have customer references I can speak with?
How long do you expect my project to take?
What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?
Do you charge hourly or per project?
Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?
Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?
While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
It may seem simple to install trim, wainscoting, and other finishing wood in your home, but the work is complicated and often frustrating. Getting small trim pieces to line up evenly without gaps and look streamlined in a finished product is a real challenge for DIYers, even if you have the necessary tools. We recommend hiring a professional woodworker for these more intricate projects. They’ll get the job done more quickly, and they’ll have the experience necessary to make everything look neat and clean to add more value to your home.
