The project was planned with an in-house visit and work was to be completed in 7-10 days, which was great since we would be without our master bath during this time. The project took about a month to complete with an entire week going by with no work done. The original team that started the work left the company midstream and other workers were sent to finish the job. Scheduling seem to be a big part of the problem, since they were commuting from San Jose and were required to NOT do any over time. With an almost 2 hour commute each way and lunch, that left barely 4 hours of actual work to be performed each day. This seemed to have not been calculated into the time plan. I work from home, so I could closely monitor the progress and workmanship every day. Besides being an engineer, i'm also a handyman and woodworker, so I understand fully the work to be done. There were many problems I had to point out to Joe Hui (office boss) and have the workers repair. 1. Tiles were 'popping' after they should have been dried and solid, meaning the mortar wasn't mixed properly or old. 2. Tiles are still uneven with raised corners and we still have a couple of tiles that are 'popping' when walked on. 3. The newly installed wooden subfloor was not cut to seal under the toilet flange, so they had to seal that up after the fact, otherwise you could see right to the dirt under the house. 4. Someone dropped a tool into one of the sinks, cracking it, so I had to buy to new matching sinks and replace them myself. I paid for one of them and had to ask PO to pay for the other. There are two matching sinks and it was hard to find one that would fit the given hole cut in the marble top. They were $294 each. 5. The bathroom vent fan was left on during the demo work, causing it to become encrusted with the dust and breaking the fan. I had to remove, repair and install the fan, using some JB Weld. A new one was $364 + a $114 brass grill 6. The back splash was grouted and sealed in one day. The worker claimed he could simply add the sealant (bought by me) to the grout and it would have the same affect (he's been doing this for his entire career). I verified with Mapei that there are additives you can put in the grout so it's 'self-sealing', but that the paint on sealer only works as directed. Obviously the worker didn't want to make another trip from SJ to complete the sealing job after the grout had dried. The back splash still has voids were he didn't fill the cracks with grout and is obviously NOT sealed, since water just soaks into it, rather than beading up. So that's where the project ended. We paid in full, but had to ask twice to get the offered 10% discount for Angieslist customers. They claimed it was only for the original quote and not add-on work. I had to argue that this was not stated in the offer, etc. We had a 10% coupon from their mailer and the Angieslist coupon, both for 10% off. Joe has asked me to find a local handyman to quote what it would cost to fix the popping tiles and backsplash, but really, I don't have time to ask some poor guy to give me a quote on a job he didn't start. I'm tired of the back and forth and expect the contractor to complete the job in a professional manner to accepted standards. I'm afraid to imagine how the work would have come out if I didn't know what workmanship is and not kept a watch on what they were doing. This job was quite involved with 2 contracts and various phases to be completed. The planner should have been more explicit in what was involved in each step and the timing and interaction of each phase. The billing for the work completed was not clear, nor was the payment plan. The company was about 2 weeks into the job and asking for additional money for tasks that were not yet completed. So breaking down the work to be performed and billing as the steps are finished would be much easier to follow. Everybody I spoke with or worked with on this job was courteous and helpful. We scheduled the work around holidays and their other projects. It seemed the main problem was the mis-calculated commute time from their home base of San Jose and limiting their workers to an 8 hour day (including travel time). Between the time of purchasing and before the work was done there were additional problems with garage door opener. Original appointment date was changed by provider and new date set. Prior to new appointment date provider called requesting to change the date again. Another new date was scheduled. Provider arrived an hour late. I showed the new problem to him and requested a quote. The new problem was the gears on the outside of the motor that lifts the garage door were stripped. The provider said it would be better to just replace the entire motor unit which includes the gear assembly, and since the gears were stripped the springs on the door were probably worn out. He then moved the door up and down saying, "Oh yes the door is to heavy and the springs need to be replaced. At this point I had paid the $99 for the package offered on Angie's list. I have had to make 3 appointments to accommodate the provider and now he is saying I need new springs on the door, an extra $110 per spring, total $220, plus a new motor because of the stripped gears, motor cost installed $395. I agreed to the new springs, but knew the motor was way over priced. After new springs were installed no noticable difference could be felt in lifting the door. The old springs were not left on site for testing. The replacement gears needed for the motor were available online for under $20, I did purchase a new motor including the gears online and with shipping the cost was $115.00, and it took less than an hour to install. The $99 dollar special on Angie's list was well worth the money but that is were the values stopped. I feel the new springs were not needed after realizing that they did not make the door easier to lift and the motor and installation at $395 was ridiculous. I would not trust this providers recogmendations but he did do quality work on jobs completed. He came right on time, has an amazing truck with everything you could possibly need him to have and immediately set about doing all the furniture assembly (media console, two wooden chaise lounges) and repairs (door lock alignment, gate mechanism fix). These were accomplished swiftly and well. Plus he consulted with me on: new hardware for my front doors (he is acquiring for me through wholesaler); two replacement doors I am considering for downstairs; toilet mechanisms; a potential water heater fix that I can accomplish myself at no cost; and review of a deck that may be rotting in some places, including taking measurements and based on a sample materials on hand, gave me a rough estimate of the materials cost (not labor) it would run to replace the entire deck. He showed me a crack in the inducer assembly and some hairline cracks in a couple of the burners. I asked if it would be worth fixing the furnace and he said I could get \"a year or two\" out of it if I repaired it, but said that with his grandmother, he was concerned about carbon monoxide leaks, and so replaced her unit immediately. I expressed concern at this point and doubtfully said that maybe I should look at getting a new furnace, and while I was at it, it would probably be a good idea to get rid of my asbestos ducts, I was quoted a price of about $8,000 for asbestos removal, new ducts, and a new furnace. Luckily, I called three other HVAC contractors, all of which told me that my furnace had at least 5 years safe operation left in it (probably longer) and that I could have the asbestos ducts insulated rather than replaced - all for about $1,500! When I invited a bid from Annuzzi for repair and insulation, they quoted me $2,500 - $1,000 more than the others. I like to believe the best of people, but this experience has left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Annuzzi's were so kind and professional and I was so concerned about the safety of my household, that I almost succumbed. I'm Richard and my wife and daughters are the most important thing in the world to me. Also hugely important to me is doing great work in my business as a handyman. I respond quickly to contacts and give an accurate estimate. Then I arrive as scheduled, do the job right, and leave your house as clean as I found it. I'm looking forward to meeting you!

FAQs for grill assembly projects in Pacheco, CA
The average cost to hire a handyman ranges from about $40 to $140 per hour. Average project cost ranges between $180 and $700, but the cost per hour and per project depends heavily on the type, size, and complexity of the project. The pro’s experience level and your location also factor into how much a handyman charges per hour or per project. You can also expect to pay higher rates or additional fees for emergency services, or around periods of high customer demand, like holidays.
The cost of a gas grill burner ranges from $10 to $100 or more, depending on the brand. If you’re replacing one burner, consider replacing all the burners simultaneously. Although it will cost more upfront, it will save you the hassle of replacing a burner every few months, and your grill will cook more evenly and efficiently.
If your grill is relatively new or under warranty, it’s worth fixing. If the warranty has run out, find the cost of parts (usually a burner or grate that’s rusted out). If the parts cost more than half the price of a new grill, it’s worth buying a new one.
However, if your gas grill is a built-in unit as part of an outdoor kitchen, contact the grill manufacturer or distributor to check on warranty coverage. You should also contact a local gas grill repair technician to get an estimate for repairs or a price to replace your built-in grill.
Yes, you should hire a handyman who’s licensed, certified, and insured, if possible. States have different requirements for handyman licensing, registration, and certifications. If licensing is required in your area, you may pay more for a licensed handyman with experience than one who is not licensed or certified, but you’re likely to get a better end result for your project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local handymen guidelines.
On average, a gas grill can last from five to 15 years. Most grill manufacturers offer an extended warranty, varying in coverage and terms. You can help extend the life of your grill by cleaning it inside and out to remove food, grease, and carbon deposits. Protect your gas grill from the elements with a grill cover to prevent it from rusting, lessening the frequency of repairs.
