No, you shouldn’t let dog diarrhea dry before cleaning it. While cleaning the stain when it's dried sounds less messy, it can cause more harm than good. Old stains have a chance to dry into your carpet, and the smell can go deeper into the fibers. This makes removing old dog poop more of a headache to clean than dealing with diarrhea while it’s fresh.

If you don’t want to remove the sink stopper, pour ½ cup of baking soda and 2 cups of boiling water down the drain. Start by pouring 1 cup of boiling water, then the baking soda, followed by the remaining cup of boiling water. Use caution as boiling water can damage PVC or other plastic piping. Using a scrub brush or slightly abrasive sponge, clean the top of the stopper, and run the faucet to ensure the drain is clear and the stopper is clean. 

You’ve tackled the pee stain on the carpet, but that smell still lingers in the air. Yuck! Fortunately, you can use certain sprays to help remove the odor. A homemade baking soda spray, made with 1/4 cup of baking soda and 2 cups of water in a spray bottle, can help remove the smell of pee. You can also use an enzymatic cleaner directly on the pee stain to deodorize it.
